The difference is mainly in the length of the center threaded part that comes up from the hulls bottom. The two sizes have to do with the thickness between the outer and enter hull (cockpit)
I have had good luck by simply reducing that length.. (cutting off what isn't needed to secure the interior cap to the hull). Naturally, a clean cut, when needed, should be attempted.
For reasons that I don't quite understand, these bailers have become difficult for dealers to keep in stock.

But I want better than a rubber cork. Surely, some Sunfish owner out there knows the size and threads per inch for the brass cap or the plastic one with the flip-top?
