Be sure to use an all-aluminum rivet.?
There should be a plug in the end of the spar. You can use the spar like a cookie-cutter to plug a piece of styrofoam. Shove it down in the spar an inch or so and then seal it up with a liberal amount of silicone caulk. No need for anything fancy.?
Then replace and rivet the cap.?
Do the same thing at the other end, and then do the boom and mast the same way.?
That way they won't fill with water if you capsize and turtle.?
