This might save you some time. Took me a couple of hours of
frustration to figure out.
I got everything disconnected, engine to tranny bolts,wiring, splash
plates, motor mounts, etc., but COULDN'T GET THE ENGINE TO SEPARATE
FROM THE TRANNY. Just wouldn't budge, even using pry-bar.
Discovered that the exhaust system (which I thought was bolted only
to the engine) has one flange which bolts just behind the
bellhousing.
Once this nut was removed, the engine separated with little effort.
