Re: Stainless radiator pipes???

Ron Bloomquist

Hi Allan,

My friend Ed McKinley should fire up his Subie conversion today. I had
hoped to be there to help share in the celebration but unexpected work
intervened...

Anyway, I took pictures of the coolant pipe installation on Ed's Vanagon
last weekend and they show how we dealt with the burp tank very well. Ed
used 1.25 copper pipe, same as I did on my conversion and used 90's cut from
the waterboxer hoses for the connections where the inlet and outlets are.
This allows for flex from motion differences between engine and body. The
VW hoses are larger on one end than the other and this works well as the
Subaru inlet and outlet are a bit larger than the Vanagon pipes to the
radiator. 1.25 seems to be a nice compromise between the two sizes.

Again, the download is a bit long because of the image sizes but you do end
up with better detail.
