I have located a company which specializes in performance Subaru
engines for sandrail applications.
They will section (shorten) your oil pan 1.75 inches for a fee of
$200.00. This will reduce the oil capacity by one quart. IMHO with a
good synthetic oil and reasonable monitoring),that would be enough to
feel comfortable. (I have to measure if this is enough for Syncros.)
They will also build a new wiring harness for $400.00 In both
situations you send them your oil pan or wiring harness and they send
you back the shortened pan or new harness (they have to re-use some
of the plugs from your harness).
I am attempting to negotiate a group purchase discount for several
oil pans. Would like to get 12 at once. The difficulty will be in
obtaining a group (say a dozen) who can all send their oilpan at the
same time. It may be easier to just buy a second oil pan. I got a
quote on one from a yard for $25.
I know there will be lots of questions about this, such as;
Turn around time?
Is 1.75" enough?
Is the pan still strong??
I'll be getting more answers soon.
