250-101 is the AXA turning holder. 250-201 is the BXA turning holder, and so on.

Hey Guys,

Thanks a lot for all the insight.? The holders are all marked 250-xxx, which are AXA.? The adjustment screw, based on the jam nuts I just bought, are M10-1.0,? No 45mm, M10-1.0 set screws at the hardware store.? I'll need to pick a couple of those up online, or turn a couple myself.? ? With respect to the smooth hole, holder, I'll need to turn a tight fit on one side of the stud, and a M10-1.0 on the other and do a freeze + heat to assemble.? I'll also turn a couple adjustment discs with a knurl outside, and a M10-1.0 inside.

Thanks again,

Greg

I just re-read your message. What you have sounds more like a BXA instead of the AXA size.?

With BXA you are on the verge of it being too big for your lathe. I think it was about a week ago one someone in your situation had to shave a small amount from the bottom of their tool holder to lower it enough to center the tool bit.?

You might want to consider getting the AXA size, now, before you invest too much in the BXA size.?

Anyway, if that is the case, all my AXA information is worthless, but you have the same parts except in M10-1.25 size.?

Best of luck.

Hey Guys,

Recently acquired a Phase 2 tool post for my SB9c.? I also acquired a couple tool holders that are missing the height adjustment screw.? One has a threaded hole for the adjustment stud, and the other has a smooth bore.? I have read elsewhere that the stud is 3/8-24, but when I check another stud ( from a separate holder) with the pitch gage, 24 does not check.? Thinking maybe metric, the stud measures 9.75mm in diameter with a 1mm thread pitch.? I guess for the smooth bore hole, I can make a stud with a tight fit and thread the protruding end 3/8-24.? Is anyone aware what the correct thread diameter and pitch are for the adjusting screw?? Both holders are no-name imports.

Thanks!
