Re: QCTP Height Adjustment Screw
That works well when you need only a few screws modified, but if you need more than a few, you should look into making a "Lantern Chuck." I've got a couple projects coming up where I'll probably be modifying a couple of dozen screws, so I've been collecting plans for lantern chucks.??was the one I liked especially.? ??? ??? ??? Good point . I have a bin in one of my tool boxes
full of different size coupler nuts & jam nuts which I use for
when I have to chuck up allen or longer screws/bolts for modifying
. I just thread them in as far as I need & then lock them in
with a jam nut . Saves the threads from the chuck jaws , works for
a regular vise & hack saw too . ??? ??? thanks Eddie ??? ??? ??? ??? animal On 2/5/2023 1:19 AM,

If you can only get plain Allen
instead of dog point Allen (or any other head of your choice) I
would turn a dog point on the ends. Regardless of how good the
screw metal is, it can still burr over in use, and then you have
to file or grind a dog point on in situ to get them out. Much
easier to have a turned down end to start with.
