hitting a block on story

Hi guys,?
I need help, I have been trying to finsh my Harry Pottter/ Dragonball Z/Star Wars fic (Book 1) but Ive seem to hit a hell of a block. I have alot of stuff going on with RL as I am a carer for my mam, and thats stressfull but i have always made time for my writing. I tired writting on the train on the way back from Galway but had absloutly no luck at all. I'm thinking of just trashing it but its over 60k that i'm kinda proud of compaired to the barely 20k I did the oroginal version

Hi Laura,
I dare say you should be proud, 50k is quite the success.
Granted, I do not know the dragonball fandom, but will toss out a question or two that might help in general.
What more do you want to say, or for your characters to experience that has not happened yet?
And, once answered, what is the simplest action that should take place, a next logical moment if that resonates, to move them in the direction you aim to go?
Kare

Post it on AO3 or FanFiction.net or wherever you normally post and list it as on hiatus. Get away from it for a while, write something else. Don't read any of the reviews either for a couple of weeks or until you get a set number (your choice of how many or how long) If you are still blocked when you reach the time you set or the number of reviews, read them it might trigger something. If not set a second time/number of reviews and go on with what you have been writing while you left it alone.

One thing is you might want to only upload one chapter per day, or every other day to generate more reviews.
If you plan your hiatus time as was one suggestion, spread out the uploads evenly over the time (unless there are too many chapters for your hiatus time to upload a maximum of one per day), with the last upload ending at least two days before you end your hiatus to give people time to read and review.

Don't force it, but DO carry a notebook around. If you get an idea for a scene, write it down. A small bit of dialogue? Write it down. Don't expect to remember them later -- you probably won't. (I know I never do.) If you can't do an entire chapter, write down little bits and pieces as they come to you. Eventually, you might have enough pieces to put together into a larger whole.
