Responsibilities Include: Leading archaeological field crews under the supervision of a field director. Accurately and efficiently record cultural resources in the field. Operate Trimble GPS units using Field Maps data collection software. Contributing to technical survey reports and site forms. Providing direction to field technicians during fieldwork. Conduct quality control/quality assurance reviews of field data. Position Requires: Must meet permitting qualifications at the crew lead level on federal permits in Nevada and Utah. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Anthropology or closely related field or equivalent experience. 2+ years of archaeology consulting or agency experience. 1+ years of archaeology experience in the Great Basin or Southwest, including experience leading field survey crews under supervision of a field director. Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations (camping is a possibility). Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time. Willingness to work field sessions up to 8 days in a row. Ability to work out of town. Be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented setting with crew members and supervisors. Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones and tablets for digital data collection (iOS operating system experience a plus). Preferred Qualifications: Qualifications at the crew lead level for BLM Nevada Carson City and Battle Mountain Districts. Working knowledge of the National Register of Historic Places and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. 1+ years of supervisory experience. Previous experience with archaeological testing and data recovery projects. Compensation: This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between $52,000 to $60,320 annually, depending on experience and education. Seasonal Archaeological Technicians - Historical Research Associates, Inc. (HRA)
HRA is seeking to increase our qualified pool of Archaeological Technicians for work in our Eugene, Portland, Missoula, Seattle, and Spokane offices. Successful candidates must either currently reside in or be planning to relocate to states in which we primarily operate (Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho).
