Harris Environmental Group, Inc.is seeking an archaeological Project Manager, in the Oregon or Washington area.

Office/administrative work for this role can be performed remotely in conjunction with some field-work which would be done on-site in various Washington and/or Oregon locations.

This role will direct compliance projects for state, federal, and commercial clients. Archaeological experience in the Pacific Northwest United States is preferred. The position will assist with project development, direction, coordination and quality control for cultural resource management projects while expanding our archaeological and historical consulting team. Responsibilities will include project direction (including some fieldwork and possibly travel), training of staff, oversight of field directors, and producing quality reports, managing multiple projects, and budgets. Candidates must have an M. A. or Ph.D. in Anthropology or Archaeology and a minimum of five years of work experience and two to four years of experience managing projects. Compensation package will be commensurate with experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure that all fieldwork, analysis, and report production is conducted to professional standards and guidelines

· Aid with business development

· Remain current with agency protocols for conducting cultural resources work

· Manage budgets, prepare proposals, reports, and other technical documents, monitor field procedures, and author Research Designs, Treatment Plans, and other technical documents

· Oversee field research, data collection, inventory, analysis, and final report production

· Establish project procedures and budgetary restraints and assure that projects are concluded within budget and on time

· Conduct content edits of technical reports

· Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner

Qualifications:

· Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology or related field

· At least five years supervisory and fieldwork experience in contract archaeology and experience working on National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) compliance

· Ability to plan and conduct research based on contemporary archaeological method and theory

· Ability to be listed on our various federal and state cultural resource permits

-Experience in Washington and Oregon strongly preferred

· Experience with content edits of reports and a strong background in scheduling and budgeting

· Ability to train, coordinate, and oversee personnel

· Exceptional technical writing skills and a record of completing and editing technical reports on deadlines

Essential Job Functions:

EDR is seeking experienced, team-oriented?Archaeological Monitors?with experience/interest in conducting archaeological monitoring, machine-aided archaeology, and survey fieldwork. Primary responsibilities will include archaeological monitoring and technical reporting during construction of large transportation and infrastructure projects.

This role will be a temporary, long-term hourly position with potential for full-time and preference will be given to candidates in the Syracuse and Long Island (New York State) geographic areas or for candidates interested in relocating to those areas.

Archaeological Monitors report to the Principal for Cultural Resources via the Archaeology Services Leader and Field Supervisors.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Our crews typically work 8-day sessions at 10 hours per day (including travel time).? Most of the upcoming projects are located in national forests.? Position

106 Group is seeking to fill field archaeologist positions for the 2024 field season. This position involves Phase I pedestrian surveys, shovel testing, Phase II evaluation, Phase III data recovery, and construction monitoring for projects throughout the Midwest. Opportunities are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the season dependent on performance.

Salary

Salary range is $19.50-27.50 per hour, dependent upon experience. In addition to lodging, archaeologists will receive a daily per diem matching the current Federal GSA rates (minimally $59 for projects outside of the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area.)

Responsibilities

Archaeological Field Director/ Principal Investigator

POWER Engineers, Inc., is looking for a Senior Archaeological Principal Investigator to join our Environmental Division – Resource Assessment and Mapping, Western Cultural Resources Department. This full-time position offers a leadership opportunity and can be based out of our office locations in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Montana, or Idaho, or can be worked remotely from a mutually agreed-upon location in the western United States.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Principal Investigator, you will help build POWER’s environmental team focused on transmission/distribution lines, fire hardening, renewable energy, transportation projects, environmental surveys, NEPA/CEQA analyses, and permitting services. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead archaeological survey work on federal and other public lands throughout the Western United States and write reports for federal and state agency submittal. Projects may involve extended periods of fieldwork in remote areas including other Western states. Experience working with and executing projects regulated by various federal and state agencies as well as permittable experience on federal lands throughout the West is highly desirable. Remote monitoring experience and willingness to participate in these projects is also highly desirable. T

Responsibilities will include technical support, writing support, and providing cultural resource management (CRM) expertise to the development and execution of projects in the western United States. The PI should possess an advanced understanding of anthropological and archaeological field techniques in connection with locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating archaeological sites and supporting field surveys. Conducting field surveys (pedestrian and shovel test surveys) using topographic maps, online mapping resources, and ESRI Field Maps and other GPS data collection software will be a regular part of this role.

This position requires the ability to work long hours, in difficult or remote environments, and in varying weather conditions. The position will also require the ability to work with and lead groups composed of diverse personalities. A positive attitude and ability to accept direction is a must, as well as the ability to work independently and to fully plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction. Effective communication skills are important for success in this role.

Stone Environmental Engineering & Science (STONE) located in Columbus, Ohio is seeking temporary, on-call Archaeological Field Technicians (i.e., employed on a per project basis) for projects throughout Ohio. We have multiple positions available to support upcoming projects by performing Phase I archaeological survey fieldwork. Duties can include (but are not limited to) excavation of shovel test pits, sifting, bagging and sorting artifacts, keeping fieldnotes, and potential additional duties as needed.

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or other closely related fields. Education and/or archaeological fieldwork experience in the Midwest, United States preferred
  • Ability to identify precontact and historic artifacts of the Ohio Valley
