Position Overview
?We seek a motivated and experienced Principal Investigator who meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology to work out of our headquarters in Fairmont, WV, and expand our cultural resource services. The chosen applicant will work with a team of accomplished archaeologists, biologists, and ecologists on various projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
This individual will be key in managing and executing the archaeological components of regulatory compliance projects, focusing strongly on Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting archaeological investigations, preparing technical reports and compliance documentation, and leading agency and tribal consultation efforts.

Work Environment
This position involves office and field-based work (report writing, analysis, meetings). Fieldwork may require hiking over uneven terrain, exposure to inclement weather, and lifting/carrying equipment (up to 40 lbs). Travel to project sites is required.

Seasonal Archaeological Field Technicians Needed - Louisiana

(CEI), a woman-owned, full-service environmental and cultural resources consulting firm, is seeking full-time temporary Archaeological Field Technicians for assignment to an upcoming Phase III Data Recovery project near Lake Charles, Louisiana. Fieldwork is expected to begin in early June 2025 and last for approximately 4 months. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit for the duration of the anticipated fieldwork. This project will require brief daily travel by boat to access the project site. ? Minimum Background Requirements for Field Technicians: ? ? Successful applicants will have earned a bachelor¡¯s degree (or higher) from an accredited university and will have majored in Anthropology or a closely related field. ? Two field techs needed for Asylum Hill Project in Jackson, MS, $23-28/hour
The Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) seeks two (2) archaeological field technicians for the ongoing, multi-year excavation of the cemetery associated with the original Mississippi State Insane Asylum. This cemetery is located on the UMMC campus and contains the unmarked graves of over 4,000 individuals who will be moved to make room for vital expansion. The Asylum Hill Project will permanently memorialize the interred individuals during a later phase. This is a 12 mo/year project expected to take at least 2 more years to complete. Selected candidates will be expected to move to Jackson, MS, as there is no per diem or housing provided for this project. The work schedule will be five-day, guaranteed 40-hour weeks (M-F, 8:00¨C4:30). Lab work will be provided when inclement weather prevents fieldwork. NOTE: Though the project is on a university campus, THESE ARE CRM POSITIONS FOR PROFESSIONALS. Recent graduates who are interested in getting a few months of experience before starting grad school need not apply. The Field Director?would oversee, coordinate, and direct field crews in order to manage multiple aspects of the project fieldwork to include: planning/logistics, supervising field staff, data collection, site recording, artifact analysis, site record completion, and ensuring compliance with survey standards and project needs. The Field Director will be responsible for ensuring crews have an identified field plan and understand the tasks required for each field session. The Field Director will be in the field in order to assist with keeping crews on track, helping with artifact identification, questions about resource recording, and ensuring that all necessary information is captured during recording (QA/QC). We have project-specific work opportunities that will develop into career-trajectory placement for the right person. The monitoring and phase I survey is a large and ongoing effort, with crews already in the field and project work expected to continue for several weeks at least. Compensation The hourly wage for this project will be between $28 and $35, commensurate with experience, attitude, and ability to commit to longer-term sessions. UES¡¯ preference is for a field tech local to Eastern TN but will consider applications from non-local techs. For non-local techs, UES will pay for drive time and accommodation near the project area, along with $68 per diem and a $10 weekly cell phone stipend. UES.
