Architectural Historian
Southern Research, Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. is seeking a master’s degree level Architectural Historian for a full-time position. The applicant must meet the Secretary of Interior’s qualifications for the position. Prior experience in historic preservation and cultural resource management is preferred. The candidate should possess knowledge and proficiency in researching and evaluating the eligibility of historic resources for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Tasks will include: Online Background Research and Reporting On-site Archival Research Historic Resource Surveys and Reporting Historic Narratives NRHP Documentation and Nominations Forms Photographic Archival Record Documentation The applicant should have excellent writing skills with the ability to write technical reports concisely and expediently based on research and fieldwork results. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and a basic knowledge of GIS applications are necessary. The candidate can work in our office in Pine Mountain, Georgia, near Columbus or work remotely. The applicant must be able to travel for fieldwork in Georgia and surrounding states and should have a valid driver’s license. This position is intended for a qualified individual who will be part of our archaeology and geophysics and remote sensing teams. The candidate would ideally split time between our archaeology and geophysical departments dependent on project needs.

? DESCRIPTION With offices in eight states, CRA conducts all phases of archaeological investigations across much of the United States. The geophysics and remote sensing program at CRA conducts a variety of projects throughout the United States and employs cutting-edge data collection and processing techniques. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in Anthropology or Geosciences with a background in anthropological archaeology, and a minimum of 1 year of experience with near-surface geophysical field and processing methods. The candidate will be expected to perform archaeological surveys and excavations and execute archaeo-geophysical surveys involving a range of techniques including but not limited to GPR, magnetometry, EMI, and electrical resistance. Projects will also involve the use of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Geophysical project assignments will involve data collection, and assisting with processing data, creating graphical outputs, and preparing detailed reports. It is imperative that candidates be able to work 8 to 10 hour days in a variety of field conditions. Stooping, bending, and lifting are essential functions of these positions. ? Applicants for the Field Director position should be currently permitted (or permittable) in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Northwest and Dinetah Regions. Field Technician applicants should demonstrate proficiency in archaeological survey, inventory, and previous cultural resource management experience. These positions require a combination of fieldwork and report writing for Class I to III cultural inventories. Richard Grubb & Associates (RGA) is seeking to hire an archaeologist for monitoring and/or archaeological survey projects located in Philadelphia, PA, New Jersey, and Southeastern New York/NYC. Although this position is primarily dedicated to monitoring projects,
as workload allows, there would be additional opportunities to work on other types of projects and survey phases as well.

Applicants should be available to travel to project sites within Philadelphia or New Jersey. Projects will be located primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast and may also be located in other parts of the U.S. and its territories. Prior work experience in

The pay range for this position is 29.00 – 36.00 per hour depending on qualifications. The anticipated monitoring projects have per diem and accommodation available. The monitoring projects may require night or weekend work which will be paid at a range of
45.00 – 54.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime.
