May archaeology jobs
R. Joe Brandon
Hey shovelbums,
This is the summary of all jobs that came through the shovelbums list for May. If you are not already using it, and if your mailbox has too many messages as it is, don't forget you can send the message shovelbums-digest@... to switch you account status to digest mode. If you are going into the field for the summer and do not want your mailbox getting cluttered then log onto and set your account status to "no mail", instead of unsubscribing. This way you can still access the archives at your discretion but will not receive e-mail from the list. When you return, just log back on and switch your account to "mail". I have a request into onelist to have this feature be availble by e-mail but it is not enabled yet. If you are new to the field business and the jobs listed below do not fit into your region then I encourage you to make use of Kris Hirst's excellent resources availible at: Thanks for spreading the word about this list and to the professors who are subscribe to keep their students informed. The list size is slowly growing, at last count we had 280 company reps, professors, and shovelubums. The signups leveled off when I had to start working on finals and my thesis and was only able to advertise the list to about half the universities in the country, hence the regional variation in job postings :) If you are in the field or at school I encourage you to post this list and show your webless friends how they can setup an e-mail account at any of those free services such as Yahoo/Juno/Hotmail and sign up to find out where the jobs are! As always shovelbums@... is a postings only list. Please send any questions or comments to me personally at shovelbum_rjoe@... but not to the list (note the iname.com not onelist.com address, this will be rectified when I get the shovelbums domain set up). I would also like to hear from those of you who have A: found jobs through the list, or B: found employees through this list. The June issue of work listing summaries will not be out until mid-July as I have to go to Ecuador for some geophysical work at the end of the month and get some page proofs back to my editor. Now onto the jobs! Please print and post where possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Louis Berger & Associates, Inc. Iowa Work

Two announcements:
1 - This came in a few days ago from Lauri Chappell (lchap@...) at Berger. I was on the road hence the delay for getting this out. --------------------------------------------------------------- Berger currently has crew positions open immediately in Iowa. Applicants must have a BA degree in Anthro or a related field and a field school to qualify. We offer benefits to our crew members!! Please pass the word along that we have positions available for extended periods. I can be reached at 319/373-3045. Interested crew members should fax their resume to me at 319/373-7566. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 2 - Shovelbums now has over 300 subscribers, with a fair number of these from overseas, primarily Europe and Australia. However these users have commented that the only job postings being broadcast on here are for US work. I would like to request that any subscribers who are aware of CRM type firms in other countries send a note to me at: rjoe_brandon@... and let me know how to contact these firms so that they can use this medium to advertise jobs. Or if you are related to one of these firms if you could spread the word and help expand the international job postings on shovelbums. Thanks. R. Joe Brandon |
