Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a cultural resources management (CRM) consulting firm, has two full-time positions available for a Project Director (PD) based out of its Tucson, Arizona office. SRI provides comprehensive CRM services to private and government clients at the federal, state, and local levels throughout the western United States from offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Washington, and there are times when these offices provide project-specific support to each other.

Minimum qualifications and Experience:

?

The ideal candidates will have an M.A. or M.S. degree in anthropology with a focus on precontact or historical-period archaeology, be able to be Register of Professional Archaeologist certified, and possess a minimum of five years of field experience, with at least two years of experience as a field supervisor on survey, testing, and data recovery projects. The candidate must be permittable in Arizona, with a working command of federal and state cultural resources statutes, regulations, and laws. Demonstrated prior experience serving as lead author for Section 106 compliance reports will be viewed favorably.

SRI offers a compensation package that includes an anticipated pay range between $54,080-$74,880 annually, professional development, and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, life and disability insurance; a retirement plan; and paid vacation/sick leave. The salary for this exempt position will be commensurate with the applicant’s credentials, experience, and industry standards.

Job Description:

?

The PD position is responsible for planning and implementing survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery plans. The PD coordinates—through the appropriate channels—all tasks associated with fieldwork, analysis, and reporting. The responsibilities of the PD typically involve traveling and work in both the field and office. The PD is responsible for report writing and having a solid understanding of the basics of cultural resource management.

For small- and medium-sized projects, the PD may assume additional tasks typically assigned to a Principal Investigator (PI), although you will work under the mentorships of the PI for that project.? For larger projects, the PD will work in tandem with experience project directors and/or the PI and to ensure that all the tasks associated with project implementation are accomplished.? We will provide the training you will need to meet your deadlines, remain on budget, and meet SRI’s standard of care.?

A PD will typically work on multiple projects simultaneously so the ability to multitask is critical.? Once you have settled in at SRI, you will have the opportunity to train crew technicians and crew leads in archaeological field methods.? Full Time Historic Preservation Program Manager

 

Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps is seeking an experienced leader to direct programs focused on developing workforce skills through historic preservation and outdoor service work.?


The Historic Preservation Program Manager is responsible for young adult AmeriCorps and public programming. Responsibilities include securing and managing preservation service projects, recruiting, hiring, and training crew leaders and crew members, managing human resource responsibilities (onboarding, background checks, etc), assisting with grant writing and reporting, creating and maintaining a positive culture, and prioritizing a safe work environment. Requires working knowledge of other volunteer-related or AmeriCorps programming, historic preservation and project management experience, knowledge of preservation trade skills, and the ability to learn and utilize the organization’s technology. Strong relationship and communication skills with a desire to work in a team environment are also required.?


This position will work collaboratively with the Historic Preservation Project Manager and Outreach Coordinator to solicit, assess, scope, and execute service projects, train AmeriCorps Members, and develop new programming models.?

Position Responsibilities:?

Historic Preservation Program Development (50%):?

  • Develop long-term project calendars by building relationships with Project Hosts, Technical Instructors, and community partners.?

  • Meet with potential Project Hosts to discuss the desired outcomes.?

  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Technical Instructors to assess future projects.?

  • Negotiate Service Project Agreements with Project Hosts; work with Project Manager to develop Scopes of Work.

  • Effectively communicate the Project Hosts’ expectations to the Project Manager; collaboratively determine feasibility.

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop multi-year/long-term project agreements with State and Federal Partners.?

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and manage workshops to engage the public.

  • Manage staff or AmeriCorps Members in recruiting positions.

  • Perform administrative and field-based functions necessary for the successful implementation of programs.

  • Working with Executive Director, identify ways to grow Historic Preservation Training Programs

  • Ensure projects are accomplished in an efficient, safe, and consistent manner and comply with NBHPC and AmeriCorps policies.

  • Evaluate and enhance the program to ensure a high-quality program that meets the needs of communities, project partners, and participants.


Crew Training (20%):?

  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct Member onboarding, and training collaboratively with Project Manager and Outreach Coordinator.?

  • Develop continuing education training throughout the field season.?

  • Act as Technical Instructor for applicable projects.

  • Provide career development training.

  • Provide guidance on the use of AmeriCorps Education Award.


Crew Personnel Management (20%):?

  • Work with the Outreach Coordinator to develop and execute a recruitment plan.?

  • Manage Member recruitment - including overseeing the hiring process, hiring materials, job postings, interviewing, and onboarding.?

  • Maintain and manage Member handbooks and policies.

  • Manage Member files.


Communication (10%):?

  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with all NBHPC team members.?

  • Coordinate and generate project information for reporting and project management.

  • Assist in grant and partnership writing in conjunction with other team members.?

  • Interact with volunteers, community members, technical specialists, project hosts, and the media as an organizational representative/ambassador to the public.?

  • Develop Field Season report in collaboration with Executive Director and Project Manager.

  • Commit to active participation in a highly effective team at NBHPC.?

  • Communicate respectfully with diverse groups of people both within and outside of the organization.?



Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.?

Travel Requirements:?


  • Program Managers travel to project sites as needed for project development meetings, Corpsmember management, and project follow-up. This includes travel by car throughout the service area. Work vehicles and rental cars are provided as necessary. Travel often includes camping overnight in rural areas.?

  • Travel is confirmed and communicated as far in advance as possible. The Program Manager’s schedule is taken into consideration when planning projects and travel dates.


Qualifications?

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Anthropology, Construction Management, History, Historic Preservation, or similar and/or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience and/or training.?

  • Strong understanding of evaluation processes.

  • Experience and/or training in managing programs geared towards youth and young adults.?

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational, time management and planning, teamwork, and leadership skills.?

  • Strong awareness of workplace safety and risk management strategies.?

  • Demonstrated experience using effective project communication strategies with diverse stakeholders.?

What you will accomplish

Experience and qualifications for success


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in cultural resources management (CRM) on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in CRM in a staff supervisory capacity.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of cultural resources?project management?experience, including developing and implementing budgets, schedules, and scopes of work from pre-field tasks to final report preparation.
  • Knowledge of and experience with federal and state preservation laws and regulations including, but not limited to the National Environmental Policy Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Experience and aptitude with all aspects of cultural resources projects, from pre-field tasks to final report preparation for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Drives compliance of safety policies and reporting requirements to ensure overall team safety.
  • Excellent technical writing skills with a record of completing technical reports in a timely fashion. Must include experience with primary report authorship in a CRM context for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Adapt rapidly to changes in project needs, agency requests, etc. and be able to work independently and collaborate with a variety of colleagues, clients, and agency representatives.

Preferred:

  • Preferred Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in cultural resources management (CRM) on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards in archaeology, anthropology, or historic preservation or related field.

Field Archaeologists | EDR | Northeastern US | Seasonal/Hourly $20-23/hr

Field Archaeologist - EDR is seeking experienced, team-oriented?Field Archaeologists?with demonstrated expertise to provide support to the EDR Cultural Resources practice area by assisting with archaeological fieldwork, laboratory analysis and/or office work. Reports to the Principal for Cultural Resources via the Archaeology Services Leader and Field Supervisors. This role would be an hourly position (March through December, weather dependent) based in the Northeastern United States.

Field Archaeologists provide support for field investigations, and in some instances, associated laboratory and/or office work. EDR’s Field Archaeologists include seasonal and temporary employees (i.e., employed on a per project basis) and report to the Principal for Cultural Resources via the Archaeology Services Leader and Field Supervisors.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8-hour days (40 hours weekly, off Saturday and Sunday; our typical schedule may need to be adjusted to meet specific project demands, although that is unusual).
  • Compensation: $20-$23 per hour, based on experience and work history; overtime paid for hours worked above 40.
  • Lodging: Single occupancy hotel room; hotel rooms can be provided over weekends for non-local staff.
  • Per Diem: Dependent on individual project requirements but typically $50 non-receipt per diem on workdays.

Working cooperatively with the National Park Service’s Joshua Tree National Park (JOTR), the is recruiting one Archaeological Technician to support cultural resource inventories. The principal objective of this position is to document or monitor cultural resources in accordance with the park’s compliance needs and conservation efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:?
? Support archaeological field surveys, site recording, mapping, excavations, site condition assessments, monitoring, writing sections of draft reports;?
? Complete database entry and file management;?
? Assist with preparation of National Register Nominations and Determinations of Eligibility; and?

Minimum Qualifications

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position will be between $25 and $28.50, commensurate with experience, plus $45 per diem. SJCA will pay for drive time and mileage, with amounts factored on a project-to-project basis. Accommodation will be provided for overnight projects. What you will do:
As a state specialist in archaeology, you will be responsible for conducting Section 106,
???and SEPA reviews for Climate Commitment Act and other renewable energy projects. ? On behalf of the State Historic Preservation Officer, you will make determinations of eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places and determinations of effect for publicly funded, licensed, or permitted activities for renewable energy projects. ?In addition to working on the development of archaeological policy, organizing special events and summits for renewable energy projects that includes developing and teaching various training courses including Section 106, state laws, cultural resources, and lectures on archaeological topics as requested. You will also work closely with tribal governments on tribal concerns on renewable energy projects and apply mediation skills in situations involving disputing parties, and must interact with a variety of stakeholders, including administrative and other personnel in the Department, public agencies, tribes, private consultants, property owners and the general public.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:?Work is performed indoors and outdoors, with a high degree of public interaction. Harris Environmental Group, Inc.is seeking an archaeological Project Manager in the Pacific Northwest area (Oregon, Washington, Idaho).

Office/administrative work for this role can be performed remotely in conjunction with some occasional field-work which would be done on-site in various Washington and/or Oregon locations.

This role will direct compliance projects for state, federal, and commercial clients. Archaeological experience in the Pacific Northwest United States is preferred. The position will assist with project development, direction, coordination and quality control for cultural resource management projects while expanding our archaeological and historical consulting team. Responsibilities will include project direction (including some fieldwork and possibly travel), training of staff, oversight of field directors, and producing quality reports, managing multiple projects, and budgets. Candidates must have an M. A. or Ph.D. in Anthropology or Archaeology and a minimum of five years of work experience and two to four years of experience managing projects. Compensation package will be commensurate with experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure that all fieldwork, analysis, and report production is conducted to professional standards and guidelines

· Aid with business development

· Remain current with agency protocols for conducting cultural resources work

· Manage budgets, prepare proposals, reports, and other technical documents, monitor field procedures, and author Research Designs, Treatment Plans, and other technical documents

· Oversee field research, data collection, inventory, analysis, and final report production

· Establish project procedures and budgetary restraints and assure that projects are concluded within budget and on time

· Conduct content edits of technical reports

· Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner

Qualifications:

· Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology or related field

· At least five years supervisory and fieldwork experience in contract archaeology and experience working on National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) compliance

· Ability to plan and conduct research based on contemporary archaeological method and theory

· Ability to be listed on our various federal and state cultural resource permits

-Experience in Washington and Oregon strongly preferred

· Experience with content edits of reports and a strong background in scheduling and budgeting

· Ability to train, coordinate, and oversee personnel

· Exceptional technical writing skills and a record of completing and editing technical reports on deadlines

· Experience with Section 106 compliance, NEPA and other relevant compliance processes

· Ability to work independently as well as oversee small or large projects

· Experience with excavation, artifact identification, and analysis of archaeological data

· Proficiency using ESRI GIS software and data management as applied to CRM projects

About the opportunity


SWCA's Environmental Consultants is seeking archaeological technicians to join our?Flagstaff, Phoenix, and Tucson offices. Hiring will be for temporary positions to assist with upcoming cultural resources management work across Arizona.

This is a full-time, temporary, hourly, field-based assignment that is expected to last until?August 31st, 2024.?Extension of this timeline is dependent on fieldwork needs of any additional projects that arise.

?

What you will accomplish


  • Assist with conducting?archaeological fieldwork (including pedestrian survey, site identification, site recording / data collection, monitoring and data recovery excavations).
  • Conduct fieldwork for long hours in various environments including, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and rugged terrain.
  • Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.
  • Assist with cultural resource records searches, laboratory analysis tasks, and other office work, as needed.
  • Work independently in a responsible manner.
  • Work as a productive member of a team and follow the direction of the field supervisor.


Experience and qualifications for success


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in CRM can substitute.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle background screening, and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Available for fieldwork on local projects and for fieldwork requiring extended travel (staying in a hotel or camping for up to 8 days at a time).
  • Must be able to pass?client specific drug and alcohol screening.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Completed an archaeology Field School focusing on North American archaeological methods and cultural resources management.
  • Previous experience conducting archaeological fieldwork for CRM firms in the southwest.
  • Experience collecting field data utilizing modern mobile technology (tablet, Bluetooth GPS receiver, mobile software).
  • Ability to read and interpret topographical maps and navigate using a compass.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
