The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for an Associate
Director of the Center for Archaeological Research to begin as soon as
possible. M.A. in anthropological archaeology required, ABD or PHD
preferred. Required qualifications include five years experience in
cultural resource management, field research, proposal preparation and
publication and experience in supervision of archaeological projects with
demonstrated leadership, management, and writing skills. Experience in
south or central Texas prehistoric and/or historic archaeology preferred.
Responsibilities will include preparing proposals and budgets, supervising
all aspects of projects, and interacting with university offices, sponsoring
and regulatory agencies.

Position: Research Scientist Associate V (Senior Project Archaeologist)
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology, and
two years experience in directing prehistoric or historic archaeological
projects; working knowledge of artifact analysis and statistical analysis.
Candidate should have demonstrated ability in archaeological fieldwork
including directing archaeology crews. Also candidate should have good
writing and basic word processing skills, as well as experience with
prehistoric artifact analysis, report preparation and laboratory processing.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidate should have two years experience
working with hunter-gatherer materials and lithic artifacts and/or working
with historic sites, supervising projects, conducting analysis and writing
archaeological reports. Experience in Texas, Southwest, Plains, or northern
Mexico Archaic material especially helpful. Also the candidate should have
working knowledge of statistical analysis and PC computer programs,
including MS Word, WordPerfect, Quattro Pro , and/or Excel. Successful
candidate must be able to work with people, and closely coordinate and
integrate team efforts in archaeological field and laboratory settings.
Duties: The candidate will be responsible for directing and managing all
aspects of archaeological projects including field and lab crew. Duties
include personnel and equipment management, archaeological record keeping,
transit survey mapping, archaeological mapping, geological profiling,
prehistoric artifact analysis, statistical analysis, report design, writing
technical archaeological reports and publications. Must have an ability to
interact and function in a culturally diverse setting and often in the
public eye. This is a grant funded position beginning immediately. Salary
negotiable based on qualifications. This is a grant-funded position
contingent upon availability of funds.

Research Scientist Associate III (Project Archaeologist)
Required Qualifications : MA Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and two
years experience in archaeology at a supervisory level. Candidate should
have demonstrated ability in archaeological fieldwork. Candidate should
also have good writing and basic word processing skills, as well as
experience with artifact analysis, report preparation and laboratory
processing.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. degree graduate course work and two years
experience in archaeology. Experience in Texas, southwest, plains, or
northern Mexico archaic material especially helpful. Also the candidate
should have working knowledge of statistical analysis and PC computer
programs, including MS Word, WordPerfect, Quattro Pro , and/or Excel.
Successful candidate must be able to work with people, and closely
coordinate and integrate team efforts in archaeological field and laboratory
settings.
