The following positions are available at Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey County, California:
Position 1: Masters degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related discipline, with focus on central California prehistory. Must have experience in investigating both coastal and inland prehistoric cultures. Position will be hired at the GS-9, Step 3 compensation rate. Applicant must have received degree within past 3 years.
Position 2: Bachelors degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related discipline, with experience in working with complex computer databases, geographic information systems (ArcView preferred), and must have completed a formal archaeological field school. Also should have recent experience conducting Phase I archaeological surveys. Position will be hired at the GS-7, Step 3 compensation rate. Applicant must have received degree within past 3 years.
IMPORTANT: Both participants must be exceptionally physically fit. The positions require intensive field work in extremely difficult terrain under all climatic conditions.
Both positions are 12 month appointments to be filled through the Department of Energy ORISE Program with option for annual renewal for a total of 3 years, pending availability of funding. Position compensation includes $1,000 relocation allowance and funding to attend 1 professional conference or training seminar. Positions will remain open until filled.
