- Project Dates: Sept 3- Nov 30, Willow Creek, CA
This is fire-break planning project which entails survey in steep forested terrain and site recordation on California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) forms.
- Survey methods will follow the Region 5 Programmatic Agreement for the USFS, and incorporate the collection of localized ethnobotanical data as well. Plant knowledge is desirable.
- Rate of Compensation: Crew Chief position at $28-34/Hr. Must be experienced with DPR forms, site recordation, and highly organized.
- Lodging and meals: We are securing single occupancy housing in two Airbnb as there are not really hotels in the area. Meal stipend is $35/day and includes weekend coverage as does housing.?
- Local folks, which means you are located within a 30-45 minute drive of Willow Creek, will receive a gas stipend, but not drive-time.
- Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40-50 hrs, 8 am to 4-5pm, weekends off. However, if we are rained out on a weekday, work may be made up on the weekend at the discretion of the PM. Potentially, the two federal holidays that occur during that time period will be moved to weekend work.
Desired Skills ¨C Fluency or familiarity with Avenza maps, Garmin units, ArcGIS Pro field maps. Ability to draw sketch maps? - to scale ¨C on graph paper. Ability to fill out CA DPRs. All of the usual physical fit for duty requirements apply with regard to mental and physical fitness, and 4x4 driving ability; ?ability to implement safety measures, direct and lead one or more teams at a time, flex the days work plan according to conditions, and keep staff motivated.?

Equipment:
- Work vehicles provided. However, if you have a good 4x4 vehicle and you wish to have DZC consider reimbursing your personal 4x4 vehicle for the job, mileage will be compensated and the vehicle covered under our work insurance policy.
- iPad, cameras, etc. provided.
- Map collection will occur predominantly on iPad with ArcGIS Pro field maps ¨C Avenza maps as a back-up.
- First Aid, shovel, and emergency water provided in each vehicle.
- You provide your own personal protective and hiking equipment, boots and appropriate clothing for a range of weather, your own lunch and water.
- Personal raingear will be essential? -? not necessarily because its raining, but because you are a walking sponge in the morning dew¡its heavy dew.
- And a compass, because you are a professional archaeologist.
