  • If you are allowed,?PLEASE include salary information!
  • Keep your formatting simple
  • If you have an?attachment?PLEASE include a cut and paste of it within the document. Sometimes people are in extremely remote areas with unfathomably bad connection speeds. Text downloads quickly. I will reject messages with only an attachment with a message to you and you will need to resubmit it.
  • Keep your message clear & concise.
  • BE SURE TO INCLUDE CONTACT INFORMATION?or where to apply clearly in the body of the message.?
  • Email addresses included in the message are visible to everyone who receives a copy of the original email and to every member who is logged into?. BUT if a guest is accessing the archived jobs board??and that member is not logged in they will only see a truncated version of the contact email after the @?sign. This is to prevent Spam harvesting bots from being able to scrape the list for emails. So consider making it clear what your domain is for receiving emails. If it is your company URL then include a sentance along the lines of if the email is not visible you may contact us using this user name (Name) at our website ?WeDontDigDinos.com.
    • Yes, I realize this is clunky.
    • I think of it as a first-level filtering mechanism for jobs. If someone can't figure your email out from a posting where it is partially obscured do you think they will be able to interpret the transition point of a 10YR 5/6 Sandy Silt Loam to a 10YR 4/6?

After your job is posted: When your job is approved it is immediately emailed out to the 13,000 members of ShovelBums. With our profession being so small it is very likely that if the person(s) you are looking for is not a member of the list, a friend of theirs is. And your posting will very quickly make it in front of them. After the email goes out the job posts are automatically also posted to thousands of other CRM and Academic professionals on the linked ShovelBums account at Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

If your position is filled and you are still being flooded with applicants: Please send in a "Position Filled (include the original subject)". There is no cost for position closed/filled announcements.

Reposting: You can repost an ad up to two times in 30 days of the original posting date for free.

And if your company is broke, but needs staff? My (bad) business philosophy is that it is more important for employers to find staff and potential employees to find work than for you to be worried about an invoice from me. My hope is that if you are not able to pay at this time, this project you advertise will be the one to help you get back into the black and be able to pay future invoices.
