New page on www.svrescue.com

Hi,

Thought I'd let you all know that we've added an Info page to our website. It's still under construction and we shall add to it over time, but there's already a few articles on there including which covers a number of the most common myths surrounding the Savannah cat breed.

I hope you find the information included on the website useful :-)

All Savannahs currently adopted, as of Nov 8th,2009

I can see that a number of people recently joined and we are getting a number of enquiries of cats that are listed in our archives.

All Savannahs mentioned in these previous posts are adopted, we have no currently available Savannahs at present. This of course may change tomorrow, we have no way of predicting when a cat will be surrendered to Rescue...

Sincerely,
Brigitte

Available F2 Savannah and Bengal

Kristine Alessio

Hello all,

We have a situation where an F2 Savannah female and a Bengal male are looking for a new home together. Unfortunately, the owner is going through a divorce and she realizes it is not a good situation for her cats. The Bengal male has started to inappropriately peeing, but this is not something he has done his whole life, so I believe he is reacting to the stress around him.

The kitties are located Michigan and the owner can meet someone a few hours away. If you are interested in fostering or providing a new home for these kitties. Please email the owner directly at deborahallyn@... .

I believe she is not asking an adoption fee, she just wants her cats to be loved. Both came from very reputable breeders, who will take them back (Joykatz and Amiriexotics) but the owner wants them to stay together and they are bonded to each other.

Nonstandard pattern F1 spayed female available in Northern California

Hi,

You might remember there was a large scale rescue operation of Chausies, Abyssinians and Savannahs in Northern California recently. I posted here asking for foster homes, although it turned out that the Shelter decided that they wanted only one rescue group, Purebreds Plus, to take all the kitties together. As the Savannahs become available, we are helping Purebreds Plus to find suitable homes.

is the link to Patches, a really gorgeous young brown spotted and white F1 Savannah female. She is an amazing girl, I got to meet all of the cats at the shelter and she is self-confident and very friendly to humans.

She is an F1 which means not every home is going to be right for her. She is exceedingly active and can be assertive with other cats. The preference would be for a home that has pets of either laid-back personality or strong enough in personality to deal with her exuberance. Less other pets the better, Patches wants a lot of interaction from you! Experience with Savannahs or another hybrid breed (Bengals, Chausies, etc) would be a plus.

The breeder of Patches has been involved all along and is very willing to communicate with the adoptive home and tell all about her kittenhood and family members. The shelter would not release Patches back to the breeder (shelter policy) but the breeder has always been willing to take Patches back.

If you are interested in Patches, contact Purebreds Plus directly, their adoption application can be found at

Patches adoption fee is $500, a little higher than their standard fee in an attempt to recover some of the huge veterinary costs that Purebreds Plus has incurred caring for all these kitties. They all came with diarrhea (Giardia) and exposure to Ringworm.

Purebreds Plus wants a local home for Patches, so you will need to be within driving distance of her foster home, which I believe is somewhere near to Vallejo (don't quote me on that!)

Sincerely,
Brigitte

Fosters needed in Northern Cal asap...

Hi,

I wanted to put a call out. There was a number of cats confiscated from a breeder in Northern California, Bengals, Chausies and Savannahs. I think I have the Savannahs foster homes but the Chausies especially need help finding foster homes. They are all really very friendly and sociable but have been exposed to ringworm and may have an intestinal parasite that needs treatment. So a foster home should be able to quarantine properly to make sure their cats are safe.

If you can help, please contact me at brigitte@... or leave me a voice mail at 415-824-3428.

Please do NOT call offering to adopt at this time. I need to concentrate on getting these cats from the shelter to safety before we think of deciding on adoptive homes. Thank you for your cooperation and help :-)

F3 neutered male available in Florida

Hi,

Jaggers (Bespotted Jagged Little Thrill) is a neutered 4 year old F3 male, dob 6/13/05. He was bred by Kate Davis, before she closed her cattery up and sold it. He's currently 20 miles outside of Ocala, FL.

Adopt A Rescued Pet, Inc took Jaggers in when his parents moved out of state. He has been living with a foster home but really wants his very own family again!

Jaggers is exceedingly friendly and sociable, but would not be suitable for a house with small children as he likes to climb onto shoulders and drape himself there. He's energetic, playful and very interactive. He was previously happily residing with a Chausie cat and two large dogs, so we believe he would be fine with other pets if properly introduced. One problem though was that Jaggers tended to pee inappropriately on the dog beds. I myself have a cat that does that if the dog beds are not regularly washed and start to smell a little "doggy" so suspect that regular laundering of the pet beds in a good enzyme cleaner should keep that problem controlled. He also pees on plastic bags if left lying on the ground, so you would want to tidy such things up around Jaggers!

Savannah Rescue has offered to help Adopt A Rescued Pet, Inc to find an appropriate home for Jaggers, so if interested and live within driving distance of Florida ( he is not available for shipping), then please fill out the attached adoption application form and email to us at info@... . The only picture we have of Jaggers is attached. His adoption fee is payable to Adopt A Rescue Pet, Inc and is $150.

Thanks,
Brigitte

Last Savannah available from Las Cruces, NM rescue operation

Hi,

We have one spayed female available, still in foster care since her surrender as that large group of Bengals, Ocicats, Savannahs and Cheetohs in Las Cruces, NM.

This poor girl is very shy, it was a traumatic experience from the shelter in NM through to the rescue efforts that ended with her in foster care in Arizona, where she is currently. We do not know how well-socialized she was previously to all that drama, so she might naturally be a shy kitty anyway.

"Shy Girl" needs a quiet home, with someone with patience and understanding. Likely she would make a great companion for another kitty, as we honestly do not know how much she will "come around" to liking humans. She deserves a lot of love and understanding though and we hope there is a special home out there for her!

Please let us know at info@svrescue if you are interested in offering Shy Girl a home.

Sincerely,
Brigitte

Jake has since been neutered. He does not spray. He's also been

Jake is very outgoing and likely would adapt to leash-training very

would NOT be suitable for a household with elderly or shy kitties as
that brings out the bully in him. He loves to play. He is cautious
around dogs but is likely to adapt very easily if properly introduced.
Jake is a sweet and sociable boy, he is not a lap kitty but loves to sit

He would not be good with small children, but an older child that
understands how to treat a cat and how to PLAY with a kitty would likely
be a good friend.
Please email info@... <mailto:info%40svrescue.com> if you are interested in offering Jake a

Ocicat boy available from Las Cruces, NM rescue operation

Hi,

Many of you may remember the large group of Bengals, Ocicats, Cheetohs and Savannahs that were surrendered in Las Cruces, NM...and transported in a huge operation to Arizona. Well, almost all have been adopted out. Some pregnant girls are yet to wean babies but all of them have potential homes lined up. One of the last remaining is this lovely Ocicat boy and so I've offered to post him here.

The spot of his nose is a healing lesion, they don't know how the injury occurred but it is healing up well. He's neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

As you can see in the pictures he's very handsome, he's a little shy from all he's been through but with a kind loving home no doubt will come around just fine.

Please contact Carol Drymon at windhavenexotics@... if interested in offering this Ocicat a home.

Just a quick update. The two silver Savannahs have found new homes, I believe the girl has already left with her new adoptive family and the boy is schedule to leave as soon as we can arrange his transport.

Thanks to everyone that applied to adopt them!

Casanova is in his new home!

Hi,

Just thought I'd let all know, Casanova has gone to his great new home now...we are very grateful to the number of wonderful people that offered him a home. It's very difficult for Kristine and I to select the best situation, most the time there are a number of homes that would work for a cat and we just have to make a call on which seems to be the absolute best choice for that cat.

Savannahs in the NM rescue group

Hi,
I thought I might mention that although there were a large group of cats surrendered at Las Cruces, NM...only a small proportion of them have been identified as Savannahs.

Apart from the two silver spotted tabbies I posted about earlier today, there are 2 brown spotted females still being fostered and evaluated, and one pregnant silver spotted female.

Apart from those there ARE a number of Bengals, Ocicats and Cheetohs also available. If you are interested in any of these then please let me know and I can forward you to the relevant person dealing with those adoptions :-)

Available Savannahs from Las Cruces, NM rescue operation

Hi,

If you are wondering what this rescue operation was about, check out for the story.

I talked to Carol today and she said she has two Savannahs ready to leave, so available for adoption. Both are silver spotted Savannahs, one neutered male and one spayed female. Both are tested negative for FIV/FeLV and vaccinated and wormed.

They are not a bonded pair so do not need to be placed together, just happen to be the two she feels are ready to leave now. They are still shy with people and will need homes that are willing to be patient and loving. They were definitely traumatized by all they have been through, and we don't blame them for that! They will most likely do best if the new home can keep them in their own room for potentially a month or so to give them the time to relax and come to trust their humans again. We do not believe they are unsocialized, but worried and scared by all the changes they have been through.

A picture of the silver male is attached, Carol is going to try to get me a picture of the female soon. She says she is also very pretty!

Also attached is our adoption application, if you'd like to be considered for one of these cats please fill it out and return to me at info@... .

Carol would of course prefer a home willing to drive to fetch them and can drive a couple hours to meet someone if necessary... but shipping is also a possibility, with some planning.
