Rescue Neutered SV Male Available in Montana
Kristine Alessio
This poor guy is with?Animeals Shelter in Helena, Montana. ?His name is Moe and the shelter estimates he is 7 years old. ?Moe was booted from his home when his owners moved in with their parents who had large dogs and he had innapropriate peeing issues. ?He was turned into an outside kitty until the people moved again and basically abandoned him. ?A caring neighbor brought him to Animeals. ?He is approximately 7 years old.
Right now Moe needs some patience, he has been through a lot. ?He may behave aggressive and/or shy at first but the person who turned him in says he is normally a friendly boy who does okay with other cats. If you want to adopt Moe, please contact Animeal directly at?- 406-721-4710. If you can foster or help transport Moe to a foster home, please contact us at info@... Kristine C. Alessio,Esq. Red Letter Day for Savannah Rescue!
Hi,
We at Savannah Rescue are very excited and pleased about a recent donation. We are quite amazed at the generosity of Carolyn Pelham who has donated $2,500 to Rescue! At first we did a double-take, then suspected that maybe she'd typed it incorrectly meaning to donate $25.00. So we emailed this kind person to make sure... and she meant it alright! Her words say it all: "I know kitties can't talk but tell them that it was sent for all of their good health and happiness." We are so grateful for this assistance with costs, it makes it so much easier to help the kitties when you have funds to pay vet bills etc :-) We are of course grateful for EVERY donation we get no matter the amount...just that this was such a huge amount that we felt especially grateful. We plan to acknowledge all our donations on a webpage on our site soon, just need some spare time to create that page... Brigitte PS For those of you wondering, Penny the Facebook kitten is growing well and we hope to have her spayed soon. Please don't apply to adopt her yet though, we are not currently taking applications. Brigitte Cowell Kirembo Savannahs www.kirembosavannahs.com brigitte@... An alternative choice for those wanting to find a Savannah cat
Savannah Rescue has a huge group of people (2830 people currently) that monitor its notification-only Yahoogroup list. This is a list set up that only moderators can post available cats. No cute kitty comments or discussions, just a way to learn about available cats. We have so many people but no cats in Rescue. And additionally, we in Rescue do encourage breeders to take their own kittens and cats back to rehome. So we want to offer a venue to home the kind of cat many of the folk on our Rescue list want, not necessarily a cute kitten but a cat that needs a good home.
So we thought on how to help those good breeders find homes for those cats and older kittens. There already are kitten classified lists, but we thought of one that was specifically for adult Savannahs. So retired breeding cats for example, or kittens/cats that were returned (usually through no fault of the cat). We decided to limit the criteria for this: kittens must be at least six months of age for example. This is NOT another venue to sell kittens. The price/adoption fee is capped at$500, any shipping would be then negotiable. Cats must be spayed/neutered, this is not a venue to sell breeding cats either. The list will be moderated, only posts that offer a cat/kitten fitting the criteria will be let through. Replies will go directly to the sender, not to the list. It thus will be up to the person posting the cat to vet the homes etc. We'd appreciate also a follow-up post when the cat finds a home too. is the link to this new group. We hope it will fill a niche and help some adult Savannahs find great homes :-) Thanks, Brigitte, Kristine and MaryJo Savannah Rescue |
Tigger and Hobbes have found a new home
Kristine, MaryJo and I would like to thank all of the wonderful homes that offered for Tigger and Hobbes, the bonded pair of F1 Savannahs that were available recently.
We had a exceedingly difficult time choosing from the homes that offered but have finally chosen the lucky home. We are happy that so many homes offered but of course sad that we couldn't make you all happy as we only had the one home to select. Sincerely, Brigitte |
Facebook Kitten
Kristine Alessio
We know that many of you were following the saga of the kitten that was raffled on Facebook by A1 Savannahs and then given to an owner in Las Vegas. ?We have an update. ?
For those not familiar with the "Facebook Kitten" ?here is her story. ?A1 Savannahs ran a promotion to get 1,000 fans on Facebook, the reward for becoming a fan was the possibility of a free Savannah kitten. ?They apparently kept track of all the people who because fans and then held a raffle/lotto (whatever you want to call it) among those people who became fans. A young man in Las Vegas won the kitten and Kathrin Stucki flew to Las Vegas and delivered him the kitten. ?This is all documented on their Facebook page. ?The young man was allergic to the kitten apparently and quickly gave it to his friend. ?The friend was ill equipped to deal with an energetic young kitten in his apartment so after doing some research on pricing they decided to sell he kitten on Craigslist for $800.00. Soon after we were informed that the kitten was on Craigslist and sleuthed around a bit and verified that this was indeed the kitten that had been the subject of the giveaway by A1 Savannahs on Facebook. ?At that time looking at home this kitten was now on its second home and really in need of a proper home, we made the decision to use Savannah Rescue's reserve funds to purchase the kitten. ?Savannah Rescue was given the kitten, her carrier and all the paperowrk which the give away winner received from A1 Savannahs. ?She is a good little kitten, very tiny, her health certificate says she was born February 19, 2010, yet when Savannah Rescue took possession of her on May 15th, she weighed only 1 lb 13 oz. ? Savannah Rescue does not lay blame at the two young guys who ended up with the kitten, they were just young guys who thought "cool a Savannah kitten", we are however dismayed that A1 Savannahs would hold such a promotion and then send off an unaltered female kitten to just whomever won the promotion. ?She did not come with her papers either )-: As soon as she weighs enough to be spayed, we intend to have her spayed and will also offer her up for adoption. ?We are currently seeking donations to replenish our bank account and if you would be interested in making a donation, our paypal address is?payment@.... As a reminder, she still needs to be spayed and vetted and IS NOT a candidate for adoption yet. ?But, we thought everyone here would appreciate knowing her story and about her (-: KRISTINE AND BRIGITTE (-: Kristine C. Bonded Pair of F1 males Available
Kristine Alessio
We have a bonded pair of F1 males available for adoption. ?They are adult F1's and it will be a hard transition for them to leave their family. ?Unfortunately the City where they live has deemed them to be illegal and if they escape (one is an escape artist) they risk euthanasia if captured by Animal Control. ?Their owner has made a difficult choice to re-home them. ?Their breeders have agreed that they should not be separated so instead of taking them back individually, are allowing Rescue to take them and find an appropriate home.
The right home for Tigger and Hobbes needs to have no other cats, they are not used to other cats and we want the transition to their new home to be as smooth as possible without worrying about introducing them to a new cat or dog. The right home for Tigger and Hobbes can have children in their new home as they are accustomed to children. The right home for Tigger and Hobbes needs to be aware that an F1 Savannah takes a little more time and effort to re-aclimate than a lower generation cat. ?We have placed F1's through Savannah Rescue successfully in the past and it can be done, but their new family will need to be ready to put in the time and effort. Here is what you should know about them, according to their owner: Tigger 2.5 Year old F1 Male, 14lbs. Playful, energetic, active, and lovable; Extremely intelligent, can open doorknobs and occasionally will use the toilet; socialized to young children and loves to go on walks with a harness. ?. Hobbes 1.5 Year old F1 Male, 11 lbs. Playful, very energetic, cuddly and smart; trained to walks with harness, socialized to young children, likes to RUN. ? Health - both cats are in robust health, with medical up to date (NW Veterinary Clinic, Seattle). ?Both have all their claws, which we keep trimmed regularly (we do this with no sedation, just need to go slowly). ?They generally sleep during part of the day and are active a mix of day/night time. Diet - they've been on a mix of dry food (Purina One and Science Diet Kitten Mix), raw chicken/turkey, and supplements (Taurine mostly, 1/week). ?They generally get 2 chicken wings each every 2-3 days, which they inhale, bones and all. ? I have also attached their pictures. ?This is an unique opportunity for the right home. They are located in the Pacific Northwest and we are able to ship them, but would prefer someone to drive and pick them up. Their adoption fee is $350.00 for both boys. ?In the event they must be shipped, shipping and related costs will be an additional amount of approximately $300.00 to $400.00. Please let us know at info@svrescue if you are interested in adopting them. ?Our goal is again, that they be placed together. ? ? Kristine C. Alessio,Esq. WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!
Kristine Alessio
On behalf of Brigitte, my fellow Rescue Director, and Mary Jo, our Foster Coordinator, I would like to welcome all of the new members to this Yahoo group.
A few things to note, first, this group is set up for the purpose of announcing Savannahs looking for new homes. ?Sometimes these are few and far between and sometimes, for some reason, we will have 2 or 3 kitties in Rescue all at once. ?Currently, we do not have any Savannahs for adoption. ?Because we use this Group for the purpose of announcing available Rescue Savannahs and nothing else, there is no general chat on the group. ?We are the only ones who can post here. ?If you are looking for general information about Savannahs, we would suggest joining the Savannah Chatter and Savannah Cat Pets groups (-: We so not accept Adoption Applications until we have a candidate for adoption. ?This is because we are all volunteers with outside jobs and lives and it became to hard to keep all the applications orderly. ?When we make an announcement we will ask you to contact us and then send an application. Often we are asked how much adoption fees are. ?They generally the same as for any of purebred breed rescue. ?We do not make any money running Savannah Rescue and usually the adoption fee is equivalent to what we have spent transporting and/or vetting the candidate for adoption. We rarely get in kittens, and the generations we have had surrendered vary from F1 down to F6. ?They are surrendered for various reasons, as are all cats and dogs that end up in rescue. I hope this answers some of your questions (-: Please keep this list on daily emails so that you can know immediately when we do have a kitty available for adoption, as you can imagine, they are adopted very quickly (-: Kristine C. Hello New Members
Kristine Alessio
Hello to everyone who has recently joined this Yahoo group. ?A few things to consider. ?
Please check the archives before inquiring as to a specific cat. ?When one has been adopted, we announce the same. ?I know that can be a pain to go to the Yahoo group site and read all the messages, but it is a good idea to do so. ?Diego, for example, has been adopted. ? ?Reading the archives would let you all know that (-: ?Same for the girls in Virginia. Please have your email settings set to "individual emails" when we announce kitties that are available for adoption, you will know first if you are on individual emails. Once an announcement has been made, we reply to those who are interested and send an adoption application. ?Read the announcments carefully, if we say that a kitty needs a local home and cannot be shipped, there is a reason for this determination. Brigitte and I are both volunteers and started Savannah Rescue because there is a need, probably not as much as for other breeds, but there is a need. ?But, because we are volunteers, we do have our usual lives to attend to so try and not lose patience if we do not get back to you within hours after announcing a kitty as available (-: ?We are on line a lot, but sometimes there is a slight time lag. Thank you all for your interest in helping a Savannah in need. ?We feel so very fortunate to have so many people who are willing and able to take in a rescue Savannah! Kristine C. Alessio,Esq.? toGattobello Savannahs SW Liaison, TICA Legislative Committee SW Representative, TICA Rescue Committee SW Junior Exhibitor Liaison Director, Savannah Rescue "Jesus Saves" |
F2 neutered male available in Richmond, VA
Hi,
Diego is a 2.5 year old F2 Savannah male. He was surrendered for inappropriate peeing and difficult behavior. We learned that he had not been neutered, and therefore we were pretty sure that was the cause of the problems. So the foster home immediately scheduled his neuter, where his vaccinations were also updated, he was tested negative for FeLV/FIV and microchipped. Pictures of Diego may be seen in the Photos section of this Group, the folder is named Diego-F2-VA and the link to this is: Diego has been perfect with his litterbox and has not peed inappropriately once. He has adapted well to his foster mom and is very affectionate with her, he has been tolerant of her young child but we feel sure that he would do better in a home where any children were not too young. He is a large cat and could be intimidating to a small child not used to early generation Savannahs. Diego grew up in a household without any other pets, so he would be fine going to a home without other pets. He tolerates the dogs at the foster home, which are very used to cats and therefore have not challenged him in any way. He is very interested in other cats but has not had happy interactions with all. He would do better with tolerant kitty personalities, as he reacts defensively to any signs of aggression. At this time, we would prefer not to ship Diego and are interested in potential adoptive homes that could drive to Richmond, VA to pick Diego up. The adoption fee for Diego is $400 which will not even cover the vet bills. Please email info@... if you are interested in offering Diego a home and feel that your home would be suitable for him. Include a description of your home and why Diego would be a good fit. Thanks, Brigitte |

[Fwd: [SavannahChatter] F4 Savannah boy-NJ-adoption(HELP)]
This is a neutered F4 boy that is a nice size and quite a handsome one. He's friendly and loving....but the house he is living in has three Bengals that did not appreciate his arrival and have been peeing everywhere. Not this cat, he's got no such issue!
The contact info is in the attached email along with pictures of the cat. I hope it comes through okay, else I will repost in another format... New page on www.svrescue.com
Hi,
Thought I'd let you all know that we've added an Info page to our website. It's still under construction and we shall add to it over time, but there's already a few articles on there including which covers a number of the most common myths surrounding the Savannah cat breed. I hope you find the information included on the website useful :-) B -- Brigitte Cowell Kirembo Savannahs www.kirembosavannahs.com brigitte@... All Savannahs currently adopted, as of Nov 8th,2009
I can see that a number of people recently joined and we are getting a number of enquiries of cats that are listed in our archives.
All Savannahs mentioned in these previous posts are adopted, we have no currently available Savannahs at present. This of course may change tomorrow, we have no way of predicting when a cat will be surrendered to Rescue... Available F2 Savannah and Bengal
Kristine Alessio
Hello all,
We have a situation where an F2 Savannah female and a Bengal male are looking for a new home together. Unfortunately, the owner is going through a divorce and she realizes it is not a good situation for her cats. The Bengal male has started to inappropriately peeing, but this is not something he has done his whole life, so I believe he is reacting to the stress around him. The kitties are located Michigan and the owner can meet someone a few hours away. If you are interested in fostering or providing a new home for these kitties. Please email the owner directly at deborahallyn@... . I believe she is not asking an adoption fee, she just wants her cats to be loved. Both came from very reputable breeders, who will take them back (Joykatz and Amiriexotics) but the owner wants them to stay together and they are bonded to each other. Kristine C. Alessio,Esq. Nonstandard pattern F1 spayed female available in Northern California
Hi,
You might remember there was a large scale rescue operation of Chausies, Abyssinians and Savannahs in Northern California recently. I posted here asking for foster homes, although it turned out that the Shelter decided that they wanted only one rescue group, Purebreds Plus, to take all the kitties together. As the Savannahs become available, we are helping Purebreds Plus to find suitable homes. is the link to Patches, a really gorgeous young brown spotted and white F1 Savannah female. She is an amazing girl, I got to meet all of the cats at the shelter and she is self-confident and very friendly to humans. She is an F1 which means not every home is going to be right for her. She is exceedingly active and can be assertive with other cats. The preference would be for a home that has pets of either laid-back personality or strong enough in personality to deal with her exuberance. Less other pets the better, Patches wants a lot of interaction from you! Experience with Savannahs or another hybrid breed (Bengals, Chausies, etc) would be a plus. The breeder of Patches has been involved all along and is very willing to communicate with the adoptive home and tell all about her kittenhood and family members. The shelter would not release Patches back to the breeder (shelter policy) but the breeder has always been willing to take Patches back. If you are interested in Patches, contact Purebreds Plus directly, their adoption application can be found at Patches adoption fee is $500, a little higher than their standard fee in an attempt to recover some of the huge veterinary costs that Purebreds Plus has incurred caring for all these kitties. They all came with diarrhea (Giardia) and exposure to Ringworm. Purebreds Plus wants a local home for Patches, so you will need to be within driving distance of her foster home, which I believe is somewhere near to Vallejo (don't quote me on that!) Sincerely, Brigitte -- Brigitte Cowell Kirembo Savannahs www.kirembosavannahs.com brigitte@...
