New 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide is out on D&D Beyond (and in bookstores)
Today's DMG Day; I've just started skimming it, but it's actually focused on helping people run games instead of whatever the 2014 version was supposed to be. Anyways, it's available for anyone who is interested.

Lost Caravans
2
Salutations! Sarge here reporting on recent activities... The most recent one involved me and the other adventurers Wing, "Orv" and Hasseltoff. We were all sitting in the Crossed Halberds when the representative of the Trading Guild in town, Mr Glockenspiel, stopped by. A growing concern of the Guild was that a number of their caravans of trade goods, sent to the dwarven outpost in the mountains, were disappearing before reaching the outpost. The situation at the outpost was dire since they have not been resupplied in a long time and the Guild was reluctant to send more caravans until they found out more about the situation. Mr. Glockenspiel was looking for adventurers to help the guild find out what was happening to their missing caravans and reopen the route to the dwarven outpost. We were offered to keep anything that we found since all the missing trade goods had been covered by caravan insurance. We all immediately agreed to help and set off for the mountains. After a few days travel we came up on some wreckage of wagons and dead bodies in the road near a large rope bridge crossing a huge chasm. On the other side of the bridge, it looked like there was a wounded Aarakocra on the ground. Wing and Orv immediately went to aid the fallen one but as they approached, it turned out that the "Aarakocra" was actually an Abishai devil waiting to pounce on unsuspecting travelers. Wing and Orv closed to attack while Hasseltoff and I followed closely after. As we engaged the devil, we were immediately set upon by an archer sniper hiding in some rocks above the action. With steely aim, Hasseltoff engaged the archer while the rest of us took tuns putting the hurt on the devil. We eventually dispatched the devil and the archer but as we were searching the bodies, we discovered the archer was wearing some symbols indicating that he was a part of a dragon cult. Cultists, I spit on them... Anyway, we continued higher up into the mountains following the burdened tracks of the remaining caravan thieves. We eventually came to another rope bridge which turned out to be a series of rope bridges spanning a fog-covered chasm. As we approached the first bridge ,we saw another kind of dragon-devil sitting in some rocks above us. As we closed to engage the creature he started flying off. Quick as lightning, Hasseltoff let loose a magical arrow that ensnared the creature and caused it to land on a hill-top about half-way across the gulf. Then creature then let out a whistle and soon anther dragon-devil appeared along with two trained Chimera. The Chimera attacked immediately while the devils held back to watch. We were handling the chimera just fine until the second dragon-devil attacked. It took a few more back and forths with the chimera to be able to finally dispatch them while the wounded dragon-devil beat a hastily retreat. Wing was then hot on its trail. Wing was able to get close enough to let loose his lightning cannons from his armor and toasted the devil before he could warn any more about our arrival. Since it was evening, we then rested to treat our wounds and get a good night's rest. In the morning we continued on following the trial of the thieves/cultists. The trail eventually lead us to an abandoned temple high in the snow-covered peaks. Just as we got close to the ruins, we were attacked by four yetis and and larger Abominable yeti; the biggest challenge as of yet on our journey. It took us a long time to start to wear down the enemy but after a few well placed blows by Orv and myself, we quickly finished off the encounter. From the ruins, we were able to see a weird glowing light coming from another, older temple about 1/2 mile distant. We quickly traveled the distance to discover two more dragon-devils completing a ritual, which consumed the trade goods we were after, summoning a sizable white dragon. With steely determination in our eyes, we closed in with the creatures. Even though Hasseltoff dropped a fog cloud on the dragon to begin with, the white dragon was able to breathe cold on us before we were able to get to hand to

Tier 1 game in Eagan Saturday, 9/14 at 6:30 - 2014 or 2024 characters
19
Let's do a face to face game at my house in Eagan on Saturday night. This will be tier 1; we have a new PHB as of last week, and, in short, 2014 characters are absolutely playable with 2024 in the same party, so, if you want to keep your old tier 1, go for it. We're sticking with the one per tier rule, so, if you have a current tier 1 and want to try something from the new PHB, just retire your old character and start a new one (farewell to my level 3 Artificer, you were nice while you lasted). I'm a big fan of the new character options and will be looking forward to trying out the World Tree Barbarian at some point, but, hey, you do you. I highly recommend reading the character bits in the new PHB and building a character or two, there are some really fun changes across different classes. Address is 862 Bald Lake Court in Eagan Anyways . . . game for up to six characters. First dibs to Ken and Jarron, who posted in the other thread. Please respond with your character class/level. Ken Jarron, Darden Elwood, presumably a Blues Brother, Wizard 1 Chris, Bonchance LaFleur, Paladin 1, please do a terrible accent Brian S. from St. Paul (the one with multiple characters), something 1 Marc ???

Notes on changes to SSP to address the 2024 rules
6
A few of us were chatting over the weekend about the new 2024 PHB and how it impact our game. I'll leave the mechanics or issues of power creep to others, but this is in general how I see the SSP incorporating the new rules. Curious to see how folks think about these, so we can going play more D&D again quickly. SSP Constitution 2024 Notes Character creation and management Characters that are created with the 2014 or the 2024 rule set have to remain faithful to the rule set used for that character¡¯s creation. The only exception is magic items. All magic items are available to all characters regardless of rule set. Game Setup DM¡¯s will determine whether a game session is open to only one rule set (either 2014 or 2024) or both. Tier Locking The one character per tier rule is still in effect. 2014 characters can tier block 2024 characters and vice versa. Character Conversion Converting characters from one ruleset to the other is not permitted.
