Train spotting
A couple years ago I spotted a 50 foot WP boxcar with the large?WP lettering?coming out of Mexico between Laredo and Fort Stockton. I accidentally said El Paso on the WP list when I asked if anyone else had seen recent WP rolling stock in service. Has anyone here seen any SN or WP?cars still in service? I know UP and the Kansas City Southern have some GP-40¡¯s that were once WP still if you look on their roster.?

Re: NE: Arboga Hotel view
Bill, Neat find. Arboga raises some interesting questions. Arboga, California, is/was three miles South of Olivehurst. The community there was founded in 1911, and was so named by an unidentified pastor of the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden?for his home in Arboga, Sweden. The phrase "our colony" on the postcard?suggests the community might have been intended settlement for Swedish immigrants, but this is not borne out by other references I found in local newspapers. None of the references I found online give any more details. Apparently, the "colony" was more like a subdivision. Arboga was later notorious as a temporary internment camp for Japanese Americans in WWII. Opened in May 1942, it was closed 53 days later when most of its inhabitants were relocated to Tule Lake (on the Southern Pacific's Modoc line). The Arboga camp was notorious for its unsanitary and miserable accomodations. Yours Aye, Garth Groff ?? On Wed, Sep 20, 2023 at 11:20?AM Bill Shippen <pitstopharold@...> wrote: Hello: |
Re: New 44-ton models
Ian, No. According to the RMC announcement, Hobbytyme is taking orders only through dealers. Any hobby shop with a Hobbytyme account can place an order for you. They are only going to be DCC equipped. No analog DC models are being produced (Rapido does make their own 44-tonners this way, as well as full-blown DCC like Hobbytyme's). ? I can't justify spending $299 for features I don't need, especially since my HO stuff hasn't been used in several years. Yours Aye, Garth Groff ?? NE Feather River covered bridge Oroville
Hi there:
Here is a NE Company view looking West from the Oroville side of the Feather River looking toward Thermalito. The structures in the distance are believed to be the bridgetenders shelter along with the obligatory outhouse. This bridge was lost due to flooding and replaced with a steel structure. One of the bridge concrete supports is still standing on the Oroville side of the river.? ~Bill Shippen? |

Daniel, The SN did not switch much of Chico during daylight hours because of the street trackage. See Allen Wood's story at? . Yours Aye, Garth Groff ?? On Wed, Sep 6, 2023 at 10:58?PM Philip Schmierer <dunsmuirpap@...> wrote:
