SN MOW paint scheme

I have a Suydam flat work motor - probably Pacific Electric- that I am restoring and plan to
paint for the SN? (is that heresy ?).? Can anyone tell me the paint scheme (late in the SN's

existence) for MOW equipment?? I was thinking perhaps black or gray roof, Pullman green
body, and either black or the light green trucks like on the 1005...comments ?
? Thanks,
????? Dan Lee,? San Jose

Look at this on eBay

I had no idea SN 401 was still silver and orange clear into 1978

Re: SN Caboose in Zephyr Scheme

Ken,?

Absolutely! WP 753 was assigned to the SN early in the 1950s in the Zephyr scheme. In June 1953 the car was formally transferred to the SN, renumbered 1627 and was occasionally photographed at around Yuba City. It remained in the Zephyr paint until retired, officially in December 1958, though it might have been out of service even before then. I don't have the documentation anymore, but IIRC through some dodgy number swapping with another retired car in really poor condition held for donation at WP's Sacramento Shops, SN 1627 was sent to Travel Town at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. It remains there to this day as a WP car.

Also take note of the even rarer all-orange WP 787. This car also came to the SN in May 1953 and was renumbered 1626 without repainting. It too served out of Yuba City, wearing orange paint until retired in December 1958.

Photos of both cars at Yuba City in the 1950s are found in Jim Eager's WESTERN PACIFIC COLOR GUIDE TO FREIGHT AND PASSENGER EQUIPMENT, page 120. They are typical Haskell & Barker cars; in fact 1626 was built by H&B in 1910. 1626 was part of a small group built by WP to the same plans in 1924, except it had a steel center sill as original equipment.?

I have a photo of both cars at YC in my collection, and also two views of WP 753 at Live Oak. My apologies, but I do not have permission to share them.

And I want to say here loud and clear that these are NOT "Gould Standard" cars. Unlike "Harriman Standard", there never was such a designation for common designs on Gould roads. However, the D&RGW and the MP both had cabooses built to the same design.?

Yours Aye,

Garth Groff ??

Justin-

Good pix...thanks for posting (your grammar notwithstanding).

Re: Layout Tours

Sorry for the poor grammar it was early morning and I changed ¡°tours¡± to the plural without changing the verb. Some of you may have seen some of the layouts but I guess I included it for all the thirty-year-old millennial blond bombshells just getting in to Sacramento Northern modeling. I know, it is a narrowing demographic.?

Layout Tours

Here was some layout tours?featuring Sacramento Northern Interurbans layouts, Western Pacific, and one with a great model of the Modesto downtown for Tidewater Southern with the mission style scratchbuilt station?

It turns out they do have at least one Western Pacific recipe in the book. I have to get it. There are 325 recipes assembled by the chef author:
¡°Railroad chefs have always created simple, elegant, eye-appealing menu items out of everyday common ingredients. One outstanding example of this phenomenon, from the dining cars of the Western Pacific Railroad, is:

Gingerbread Supreme
1 pkg. gingerbread mix
1/2 pint whipping cream
1/3 cup apple butter
8 Maraschino cherries, halved

Make gingerbread according to package instructions. Beat whipping cream until stiff. Fold in apple butter. Cut hot gingerbread in 2-inch squares and place on serving plate. Top with dollop of chilled apple butter whipped cream and crown with Maraschino cherry half. Serves 16.¡±
