Head sink drain plumbing
I changed the head joker valve and deep cleaned the head area, pumping the floor rinse water through the shower sump. The pump threw water violently out of the sink drain. The under-sink plumbing is a mess, complete with RTV. Pump is a Jabsco 50880-1000 Shower Sump Pump. There is a bronze check valve 6" above the thru-hull that I assume the PO added to prevent flooding during heel. The back pressure may be the cause of the violence. I recall, but can't find a post 2-3 years ago showing a nice replumbing of this area. Can anyone please point me to this or another solution? impeller access in Westerbeke 35B 3 in Sabre 362 13
hi - my water pump impeller is just forward of my starter, facing aft, on the port side of my 1995 Sabre 362. Without removing the starter, hell to even get the cover off of the casing let alone remove the impeller. Is there an easier way to inspect/replace the impeller than removing the starter to get reasonable access ? Tx Paul Pegasus Padanaram MA

Shopping for S28 or S30 3
Hi everyone, I joined the group about a month ago when I nearly had a deal on a S28 (the seller had a change of heart and is holding onto her for the time being), and then last week I just missed out on an S30 that went under contract before I got my offer in. So I'm back on the market, and thought I'd mention it here. If anyone in the northeast has a S28 or S30 they'd like to sell, please let me know! Thanks, Nate (nathanielrhanson@...) Winter storage in or near Cleveland or Sandusky? 3
Hi all, Does anyone have a recommendation for winter storage near Cleveland or possibly Sandusky? Purchasing a boat on the east coast and will be sailing back to Chicago later this summer assuming the Erie Canal reopens. I¡¯m planning on getting as far as Cleveland, storing her there for winter and finishing the trip next summer. Or maybe a yard near Sandusky would be less expensive? Bill Akins S30 #85 Chicago

426 belt replacement - raw water hose makes it difficult 12
Has anyone figured out a good way to move the raw water hose and re attach it when replacing alternator belts on a 426? complete failure replacing S28 ignition.
After finding out that I already had a new Cole Hersee ignition switch I decided to attempt the replacement. The switch is about 3/4 size of the original, but has 5 posts like the original, with one post not being used. So I aligned the wires the best I could, and attached them to the new switch, despite the fact that the original ignition posts were marked with numbers, while the new ignition was marked with letters. The result was predictable. The moment I inserted the key, the pre-warming glow plugs alarm sounded. Then I started the engine, and the alarm kept blaring. Then I pressed the off switch, but engine kept restarting, even when I put the key in the off position. I had to turn the key to on, keep the off button depressed, and have a friend put all fuses and the battery switch to off. only then I was able to let go of the key and reinstall the original ignition switch. ;-) So, does anyone know if the original ignition switch was also Cole Hersee? -- Piotr Serwik S28 Mk I (standing rigging from Mk II). 1972, Hull #13 "Deep Blew" Rock Hall, MD

S32 vs S34-1
I was looking at a 34-1 the other day. Curious, are they the same hull with a different transom on the 34-1? The specs are almost identical. Anybody know? The other difference is that the 34 has a keel stepped mast and the 32 deck stepped Bill Kellner S32 CB Sandusky Ohio

What goes here? Head sink cabinet 8
Hi, I have these two pieces of wood screwed to the back of my head cabinet door that looks like they¡¯re supposed to be holding something. Can anyone tell me what it might be? Squirrel issue 6
Wondering if anyone can give me a little advice. I am Canadian and bought a 1988 Sabre 36 in New Jersey last Nov. Boat surveyed above average. Broker has a marina and stored the boat and equipment over Winter for me. Just commissioned the boat and found a couple of issues, the Dingy and my Asymmetrical were damaged by a squirrel in what I assumed was winter storage. The never used Dingy has a 4 inch hole in the tube. I am told the estimate to fix is 800$ and will take until mid June. I hope to have it sailed close to home by then. Bought a RIB at Defender yesterday. Also, the Asymmetrical has multiple chew holes in the sock with some small ones in sail. Otherwise in like new condition. The rest of the boat is sound and I¡¯m happy with my purchase. This issue is not my fault of course and I¡¯m not pointing fingers. Just trying to see if there are any options. The broker just sent me the address of the repair person. I have Geico insurance. I thought similar experiences may exist among the group and was looking for guidance. Thank you. Mast VHF Coaxial cable 8
For 38 years we have owned our 1986 Sabre 30 Mark III on Lake Michigan which is "on the hard" with mast off and scheduled for re-stepping 6/2/25. I need to replace the VHF cable with 8X. Wondering if I have to pull top of mast in order to replace cable or if I can just attach new smaller diameter 8x cable to the old VHF cable at bottom or top of the mast and pull it through? I have some concern about doing this if there are attachments (for strain relief?) in the mast or if cable breaks. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Earl (Nirvana - 1986 Sabre 30 Mark III)

Fairclough cover for S28 free 7
I have a Fairclough cover I've used for my S28II and all the stuff you need to use it, bought in 2016. It still has years of life but it's too much for me to handle now. It's at Savin Haill Yacht Club, 400 Morrissey Blvd, Dorechester MA. Let me know off list if you'd like to come get it. It would work with a mark I as well. In pic it's the one to the left. AGM Battery recommendation 11
Its time to replace our 4D AGM house batteries. For how we use the boat AGMs are fine and I don't want to switch to Li. Would anyone have recommendations for a specific manufacturer? Many members of our club are using Interstate Marine AGMs and seem satisfied. Second question I see some manufacturers have switched to L lug terminals. They seem awkward to connect. My current battery has a bolt that screws right into the battery. Are there adaptors for the L lug terminals? -- Bob S42 Vitesse Lake Ontario

Hello Sabre family. I have water coming in through the running light on the stern (see photo). Obviously the teak is cracked and rotting. Is it best to replace the whole unit? Ideas for Sailing with a Kayak? 4
Does anyone have any good ideas for storing a Kayak on deck while underway? She's a 1989 -S42. We currently keep it roughly amidships at the shrouds, inside the lifelines. See pic. Was thinking of getting or making an attachment to the stanchion tubes and putting it more forward... No room on the davits as the dinghy takes up all of that space below, and they're getting solar on top of them...

USCG proposal to remove markers off New England coast 6
A friend alerted me to a Coast Guard proposal to remove hundreds of navigational markers along the New England coast, including red/white checkered harbor entrance buoys, several buoys around Block Island, Stonington and Watch Hill, the Cape Cod Canal, Woods Hole, and well over 100 along the Maine coast. Apparently the markers would not be removed until next year sometime, but they are open to public comment until June 13. There is an independent website with a chart showing the proposed removals, information about the proposal, and how to submit comments here: https://uscg-marker-removals.webflow.io/ I plan to submit comments and thought others might be interested as well. -- -- Jim Harman Arcadia S402 #2 Southport CT
