We were along the southwest coast for for 2 weeks in 2023, ?very wet year, and did not use the Dickinson propane fireplace?
Enjoyed swimming in the very warm brackish waters of the inner fjords.?

No additional systems. Nancy is getting anxious about the lack of heat but that¡¯s not in the cards. The enclosures are almost done, one more visit from the canvas man. The stove is installed along with the new 10lb. propane tank. Awaiting some s/s fabrications, one for the gimbal lock and one to extend the pipe guard back 2¡± so the new stove clears it when on port tack.?
Starlink mini hardwire is the final upgrade. Today I¡¯ll be checking the polarity of the barrel plug. I¡¯m wiring it to a spare breaker via a 24v voltage booster. Mounting bracket on the stern rail tested out OK for receiving the satellite signals. Jamie reports he can¡¯t use it underway but was fine when parked. Power draw is about 30w when powered up so we should be able to use it an hour or two a day without any issues.
Crew changes are all in place. Orientation for all will be in early June before departing on June 18. Shelburne/Halifax, pick up Nancy and her brother then on to Baddeck where we lose two crew and join the 4 boats that wintered over at Baddeck Maine. July 1 we depart for Newfoundland proper. July 31 we are scheduled to arrive in St. Pierre. Nancy will fly home. A third crewman arrives and we depart for Sydney Aug. 2. Two more crew will join in Halifax for the delivery home, looking at Aug. 16/17 for arrival.
A long cruise but should be fun.
Are you joining the MYC cruise to the St. John River?

Len, I will of course defer to a trained architect, but isn't the
load from the shrouds born the chain plates?? I will concede that
a flexing deck might damage the seal around the chain plates
leading to all sorts of nasty deck delamination, but I don't think
the polysulfide transmits much of the shroud load to the deck.
And how are your preparations for Newfoundland going?? Have you
found any more expensive systems to replace/upgrade?

Jim is close. The J hook keeps the deck from bowing upwards when
you tension the shrouds. Extremely important IMO so if yours is
missing replace it pronto. Loosen all your shrouds, tighten the J
hook with a modest torque, then retune the shrouds.

The J-hook keeps the deck from flexing upward from the
turning block load.? Simply put, you don't want your deck to
flex.
If you have a fitting on the mast below deck and a hole in
the aft part of the mast ring, Sabre clearly intended to for
one to be installed.

Hello all,
?
I looked for these answers, but was unable to find them
in the archives.??
?
1) what are the volumes of the two water tanks in a
S362?
?
2) does everyone use a j-hook on their mast?? My rigger
just called to tell me mine is missing, yet I do not
believe I ever had one from the time of purchase in 2021.?
Any thoughts on sailing with and without a j-hook?? Any
photos would be appriciated.
