To your questions about shaft alignment, my research showed that aligning to a tolerance of 0.010" was the "spec", however I aligned to 0.004" or less on my shaft. ?I did the alignment both on the hard and after being in the water for a week. ?I was told that once the boat is in the water and the keel suspended from it versus the hull sitting on the keel on the hard, the hull shape changes. ?In my case this did not change the alignment at all, I was still within the 0.004" I set it to.

I also noticed the ability for the shaft to move within my stuffing box, and I tried hard to make sure it was centered in the shaft log tube when doing the alignment. ?That seemed to work out pretty well.

Like you I am considering adding a Sigma drive, since despite proper shaft alignment I am still getting vibration at a variety of RPM's. ?I did rebuild my fuel injectors over the winter, so we will see if that smooths things out or if a Sigma Drive is next on the list.

Lastly, you mention no lateral movement on the DF2205-2, when I installed mine last season I had plenty of lateral movement and no problem doing the alignment, you can see that in the attached pictures.
