Rob,
When the 2600 came out I could not afford it, I could only afford the 2201. Fast forward a few years and I was in college but I was able to get my hands on a new Krell KSA-100 (once again I could not afford the Krell MDA series) from what I recall the KSA series was the one chassis stereo version vs. the mono blocks M series). I had also managed to get my hands on a Threshold CAS2 power amp.?
All 3 about the same power ratings: 100+100.
I loved my SAE for its effortless presentation, and overall presentation. The threshold was a very close second but didn¡¯t quite have the high frequencies, but still loved it. The Krell was also a very decent performer but didn¡¯t have the mids.?
I sold the Krell many years ago, I only sold the Threshold last year after many years of flawless service. The SAE, died about 25 years ago but I have still kept it.

I can afford a lot more amps at this stage in life and have played with a LOT of audio gears over the years, James¡¯ and Nelson¡¯s modern power amps are still the ones I have. My Ampzilla 2000 drive my Magnepans like no other amp has ever been able to. My Pass X350.5 are just as good and even a touch sweeter than the Ampzillas.
