This list has a set of rules governing the discussion topics so that we maintain the focus of the group.
LIMITED SALES OF ANY PRODUCT OR MERCHANDISE INCLUDING SAE STUFF
1) No UNSOLICITED direct offers of "FOR SALE" items allowed on this SAE-TALK list. This list is not an EBAY or Audiogon. Only in rare, special cases are sales allowed upon the PRIOR discretionary approval of the Moderator. It better be very special!!! Everyday SAE stuff sold on EBAY is not special.
2) If one wishes to SELL something IN RESPONSE to a request "I'm looking for", do the actual sales OFF this list.
3) We can talk about items posted for sale in a public forum (EBAY/AUDIOGON) as long as it is related to Q&A in the spirit of this list function (production history, design, modifications, cost history, possible problems with the products and technical stuff).
If this stuff gets out of hand, sales of any kind will be banned.
REPAIR SERVICES
Offers to do repair services or are allowed. However, all offers must be in direct RESPONSE to a request like "I'm looking for someone to repair...". Final discussions for actual work must be made OFF list. No SOLICITATION or independent advertisements allowed on the list. Repair Shops may post DIRECT weblinks to their place of business in the LINKS folder of this list website. If this stuff gets out of hand, it will be banned.
POSTING OF TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Offers to supply technical information or documentation are allowed. However, all offers must be in direct RESPONSE to a request like "I'm looking for someone who has a schematic too...". Final discussions for actual transfer of information must be made OFF list. No SOLICITED or independent advertisements allowed on the list. Unfortunately there is not enough disk space on the Yahoo list website to store all the technical information about Audio products we talk about. However, everyone is encouraged to post WEBLINKS to show where one can get documentation and information. This can include places that sell documentation. Weblinks are to be placed in the LINKs area of this list website.
USAGE OF THE FILES AREA
There are many folders containing information in the Files area. However space is VERY limited. At this time, people must obtain permission from a list moderator to post files in this area. We are trying to store information that is not publicly available or is very rare.
USAGE OF THE PHOTO AREA.
If you have some pictures of equipment you would like to post, this is the place to do it. However, space for these photos is shared with all the other files of this list. Keep the photo images small and compressed. Keep them to about 40K each. Moderators reserve the right to remove photos at any time as needed to manage the website disk space.
MESSAGE CONDUCT
Everyone must respect each other on this list. ANYONE with direct personal derogatory comments about another person in terms of them being a human being is not allowed. Technical debates, however heated, must not use foul language. Repeated offenses (they are accumulative) can lead to banning from the list. THE 10 Commandments of Email:
