Description:
Hello South Texas,
Come out to the multi-club Winter Field Day 2025 (WFD). WFD2025 is on January 25th & 26th, 2025 at the City of Shavano Park Pavilion!
Winter Field Day 2025 Goals: Be Safe, Have Fun, Stay Warm and Keep Dry!
This will be a lighter event than Summer Field Day, no triband beam.?
We will need assistance picking up the club equipment from storage on Saturday morning.? Radios, feedlines, wire antennas, tables, chairs, antenna supports, computers for logging, and the generators.?
Depending on the weather that weekend, the end of the event will either be on Saturday evening at 6 PM or if weather favorable, the event will end Sunday morning at 9 AM.
Dress for the weather. If it is colder, bring towels or a throw to cover the metal folding chairs. I know from experience that sitting on a metal chair in the cold will pull the heat out of you very quickly.?
Joe Underbrink, K5ATR, joeunderbrink (at)?, will be coordinating Winter Field Day 2025.?
Please get on??to receive the latest information about WFD2025!

In general, Texas has comparatively few POTA parks. Typically only State & National parks make the list. City & County parks are not in POTA, yet# States with BLM systems get allot more parks just b/c of the way the land is designated.

It is not a POTA park. ?Ironically the City of Shavano Park has no parks in it. ?No city, county, state or national parks. ?

It*s not listed in the POTA.app but that doesn*t mean you can*t set up and act like it is then be a Hunter.
im going to try to activate a Colorado park that morning to see if we can make some contacts. Probably 20m. Will advise.
y*all have fun!

Here in toledo w8hhf machine, we run 5 watts, nobody has noticed, that's 1.5 s units on a standard s meter. 5 to 10 to 20 is 1 db which equals 1 s unit, 20 to 50 is a half or little more of an s unit. Our dr1 has locked up before, at 5 watts it doesn't burn up before we can reset.? Tom kd8wcd

I may have asked this question before but how many of you are running DR1 or DR2 at 50 W. I know there*s been some stuff going around referencing PA is going bad because of the 50 watt Duty cycle is not 100%.
Has anybody in the group experienced an issue running at 50 W?

Sorry, I did not include this in the first email. But has anybody determined if climate controlled facilities or extra fans on the equipment could prevent any burnout.
Is everyone operating in a climate control environment? sparky
