I have the MFJ-4225 switching power supply below. Last time I tried to use it (I think it was a year or more ago) it didn't work - perhaps it is just the fuse. Anyway, I am not going to take it with me when we move, so if someone is interested please DM me - it's free 73, Franco

for Collins Radio Fans. Collins Equipment.
Good morning. If there are any other Collins Radio fans within our membership, it'd be great to compare notes sometime on our experiences with the various Collins rigs (since 1933) and their gigantic transmitters and all. I'm told that there are at least three of us SAARS members who have operated Collins equipment, either in ham shacks, or the U.S. military (USCG, USN, USAF), MARS stations, government. // Mark w2or >> Email: (callsign) (at) ARRL.net Photos of Collins KWM-2 https://www.radioing.com/collins/tr01.html Collectors Site: https://www.radioing.com/collins/index.html History of Collins: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockwell_Collins Collins Collectors Assn on 开云体育 : /g/cca/messages ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~

Request for help - cutting a trace and adding a wire to a PCB
Good morning. I have been working with Phil Harman VK6PH and Justin Peng on this new concept SDR called DFC transceiver - you can read my latest update here: /g/NextGenSDRs/message/2059 I have a prototype here at home that I have been write software/firmware for. Yesterday we discovered there's an error in the PCB, where one trace needs to be cut and a wire needs to be soldered between two pads (I have full instructions with the pictures of what to do). I am not good at all with the soldering iron and working on PCBs, so I was wondering if there's any kind soul in this group who could help me with this task (from what I can tell it shouldn't take more than 30'). If anyone could do that, I thought I could take the SDR prototype (and the instructions) to their QTH one evening after work or over the weekend, whenever they have time. Thanks and 73, Franco K4VZ

[FCG] KL7RA Fundraiser
Alaska, anyone? Interesting. Richard/NN2T ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: W4WF Chris Plumblee <chris.plumblee@...> Date: Thu, Feb 29, 2024, 16:47 Subject: [FCG] KL7RA Fundraiser To: FCG <[email protected]> Cc: <sbloom@...> Hello FCG - KL7SB, who now owns the KL7RA station in Alaska, has reached out with a plea. Steve has been self-funding antenna maintenance and other work at KL7RA since 2015-16 when Rich passed away unexpectedly. He's looking at adding remote capability to the station to allow more operators to operate from Zone 1, and he's created a GoFundMe campaign to help fund the remote expansion as well as some needed tower work and maintenance. It's hard to overstate how much of a beacon KL7RA/KL7SB is from Zone 1 and Alaska. There are a handful of other stations active in Alaska, but KL7RA is a reliable QSO in substantially all DX and many domestic contests from AK. If you're so inclined, the link for the GoFundMe is https://gofund.me/f93770d5 73/OJ/LN, Chris W4WF -- Chris Plumblee 407.494.5155

Parking At Ned's 3
Linda caught this on Facebook. I didn't know it. Ned's rents ten spots at Huey's next door. If there's still no room, we can go park in the back of the bar. I have not done that since before I met Linda... Cheers! Richard/NN2T

2/16 LUNCH: PLEASE WELCOME GARY MORTON KM1GRY FROM THE UK
I had invited Gary Morton to Friday lunch but unfortunately don't expect to be there myself. Gary's QRZ page is https://www.qrz.com/db/M1GRY . His U.S. call (extra) that he is operating under is KM1GRY. Gary is from Cambridgeshire, England and contacted SAARS through our web site. His plan was to visit Hamcation and activate POTA'S. Linda and I met up with him at the FCG dinner. Gary has been making a ton of POTA activations including at least eight parks today alone. From his rental car, battery, radio and selection of portable antennas I have observed him make regular contact with The U.K., France, and at least halfway across The U.S. He is staying in Villano Beach until Tuesday when he drives to Orlando for his flight home. I have suggested to him that at about 10:30 he look for "The Radio Table" with several folks, mostly men my age, either outside or inside Ned's. He may be wearing a red cap and/or t-shirt with his club name on it. Thank you! Cheers, Richard/NN2T

Spain's King Juan Carlos, Radio Callsign EA0JC, visit to Saint Augustine 2001
Of special interest to the radio operators of Saint Augustine, there was mention this past weekend about radio EA0JC, the callsign of former King Juan Carlos of Spain, and his 2001 visit to Saint Augustine when he was King. Here are some photos and notes below regarding that visit, taken from the web. The amateur radio operators of Spain hold a commemorative event each year in May and June, paying tribute to former King Juan Carlos. St Augustine visit/POTA message from M1GRY - he is looking to do activations in the local area during February
To SAARS members and friends: Gary, M1GRY, will be visiting the US for a three-week holiday in February, including a trip to the Orlando Hamcation and the St Augustine area. See the message below, received via the SAARS website, regarding his trip and interest in POTA. If you wish to meet up with Gary, or want to invite him to one of your POTA activations in the area, you can contact him directly via his email address, m1gry.p@.... 73, Bob, N2PE **** Date: Mon, 8 Jan 2024 16:18:00 From: Gary Morton <m1gry.p@...> Subject: St Augustine visit / POTA Message Body: Hello secretary(?) of SAARS. I am a UK ham radio operator, callsign M1GRY. I will be in Florida for 3 weeks in February taking an early vacation during which I will be visiting the Orlando hamfest. This would be my 4th visit. I am staying a little longer this time, because since May 2023 I have been doing POTA activations in England, and my intention is to activate my first US parks. The reason for reaching out, is that I will be spending my last 4 nights in St Augustine. Previously I have stayed at Daytona beach, but it is a bit pricey! Choice was also based on number and closeness of POTA parks. I would like to find out if there are any keen POTA activators in your club who might be interested in a meet up at a local park? It would be nice as a visitor to meet other local hams, especially where there is a shared interest. BTW I do have a US callsign of KM1GRY, so there are no issues with bands and/or power. I will be bringing radio equipment over from the UK, and buying the items which I cannot bring on the aircraft (battery). regards... --Gary (M1GRY / KM1GRY) ****
