Hello secretary(?) of SAARS.
I am a UK ham radio operator, callsign M1GRY. I will be in Florida for 3
weeks in February taking an early vacation during which I will be
visiting the Orlando hamfest. This would be my 4th visit. I am staying a
little longer this time, because since May 2023 I have been doing POTA
activations in England, and my intention is to activate my first US parks.
The reason for reaching out, is that I will be spending my last 4 nights
in St Augustine. Previously I have stayed at Daytona beach, but it is a
bit pricey! Choice was also based on number and closeness of POTA parks.
I would like to find out if there are any keen POTA activators in your
club who might be interested in a meet up at a local park? It would be
nice as a visitor to meet other local hams, especially where there is a
shared interest.
BTW I do have a US callsign of KM1GRY, so there are no issues with bands
and/or power.
I will be bringing radio equipment over from the UK, and buying the
items which I cannot bring on the aircraft (battery).
