If it is entirely brass maybe Loco Workshop and outfit from NJ that was owned by a man named Jan Lorenson. He did mostly O scale brass kits but did venture into S scale for a while coming out with about 12 kits total as I recall. Bill

A number of years ago I bought this unit that was powered using Miller Labs trucks. I used the power trucks to make an S-2 with 4 powered axles. Just curious if anyone has any idea where this shell was made.

Thank You William for your info. Yes the loco is entirely made of brass; it has a Baker coupler on one end and a solid knuckle on the other. John On Wed, Apr 9, 2025 at 5:05?AM William Morris via <classicaudioservice=[email protected]> wrote:

IIRC Jan Lorensen of New Jersey did make some kits with brass body parts of sheet metal and zamac side frames and bolsters for the trucks.? I recall getting someone to solder together an Alco FA for me but I never powered the unit.? I never cared for the Miller trucks because it seemed that they were always full-speed or nothing--no good control of the speed.? Also, even with four powered axles, they seemed under powered. For a while, Jan put out a periodic with drawings of various unusual locomotives, often foreign engines that looked something like American locos.? I think he made a contest as to who could correctly identify the loco.? This was probably 1975 or so. Chris Harding |
