A.C. Gilbert’s Keystone PRR logo was better looking

A.C. Gilbert’s Keystone PRR logo was better looking and more readable.

?

The tender for a steam outline engine built in 1948 is being refurbished to its American Flyer Lines paint scheme.

Researching the Pennsylvania Railroad keystone logo it was discovered the logo Gilbert put on his product is more distinguishable.

?

A PRR logo from an old engineering document is compared side by side with the logo on a AF tender.

This is an interesting “point” for me, because it’s an example of where a toy logo seems to look better than the prototype rendering.

?

The decision is made. We’ll be using Gilbert’s PRR keystone rendition.

?

It just looks better.
