Ballasting Bill
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI am almost recovered from my surgery. The recommendation for recovery was be on your feet and walking around.? In the past week I have likely did at least 50 hours ballasting. ? As of right NOW ballast that have been glued is covering every inch of track on my layout. There are a few places I want to refine, and maybe even weather. But it is DONE. ? ? ? Thank You, ? |

HIp Hip Hooray!!!!

While you were working topside, I was working underneath.? Electrical.? AND put all new BIGGER/LONGER riser/feet on the layout to finally get it leveled correctly.? The ones I initially started with over a year ago were not really big enough to compensate for the slope in my basement and the blocking I had been using temporarily was not working well enough.? The new feet are much better!
?
Congrats on the ballasting.? And on feeling better in your recovery!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBill and Bill.
Many know that I crashed a week ago by
tumbling from our stairway to a stone tile floor!? Many parts of
my 'being' hurt at different times!? When my head hit the floor it
was like a bowling ball being dropped--I guess I am lucky that I
can remember hearing it--means I'm still around!? But I seem to
have damage from several areas i.e. right middle finger but lower
left ankle, among a dozen more places--many I need most days.
I guess this a sign of things to come,
but I'll continue on the best I can.? I've spent over two decades
building my layout, coming close to a finished operating layout,
so i hate to give up with a finish line so close!? With that
thought in mind perhaps you might visit and do some corrective
wiring on my layout.--Philly Bill, as well as some ballast for
Jersey Bill!? I'll leave the light and the AC on too!? We're on
the verge of a hot summer so do it soon please!
When it comes to leveling the layout,
please tell me what you are using.? I've grabbed a typical
automotive scissor jack that I will use to make adjustments
annually.? I usually just use shims/chunks of wood, but it would
be nice to use a screw lift arrangement so just twisting a bench
vice grip rod could make for a better/quicker result.? Our entire
area of the Gulf Coast is basically mud that drifted down from the
North and still moves with our moisture content--we don't have
earthquakes, but still have many of the same results over many
years!?

Hey Bob -
?
I used these:
?
?
I wanted something with a lip I could slip under the legs.? Since I already had smaller feet installed, all the legs were already off the floor.? There were only two legs that I did not put new these new feet to, the one's at the highest elevation of my floor where they wouldn't fit underneath.? I've got plenty of room under the table to sit on my butt and work.
