American Models Unidentified Plug-door Box Car/Reefer
Ted Larson found this car listed on eBay:
(the image may get deleted soon, but I have a copy saved to my computer should that happen; if it does, it a yellow body color Delaware & Hudson road number #32207) The car matches the other "2200" series of American Models' plug-door box cars/reefers in terms of looks and "features", but I don't have this one listed. I am looking for the AM product ID for this car, presuming that this is a legitimate car that AM produced. These cars were released in 1996. I have the range of "2200" (the older kit versions didn't have the leading "2") cars listed from 2200 through 2231. I am missing these numbers, so it could be one of these: 2214 2216 I have looked at the Web Archive for American Models' web site, but it only goes back to 2001, and the cars listed there, I had already documented. Does anyone have an old AM catalog or brochure, or maybe have this model in your collection, to identify the AM product ID for it? Thank you for any leads. - Peter. -- Peter Vanvliet (info@...) owner, Fourth Ray Software Houston, Texas (personal web site) |

Peter,
I have this sheet from 1997 that American Models sent out to customers. The numbers 2214 and 2216 do not appear in the Plug Door section, but the order of numbers is a bit random when assigned to the cars listed alphabetically. The quality of the paint on the
Delaware and Hudson does not look as good as what American Models was adding in those days. The Delaware and Hudson model does not appear in any other sell sheets I have going back to 1986.

开云体育Thank you, Terry.A part of why I want to maintain the Product Gallery on the NASG web site is not only to show what has been produced, but also for people to learn whether or not a model that they may come across on sites such as eBay are genuine original models or one-offs, custom, or kit-bashed/scratchbuilt efforts. Nothing wrong with either, just so long as you know the truth in what you're buying or bidding on. That referenced photograph is an example, in that it looks like an American Models car and it sits on an American Models box, but it looks like from Terry's scan that that likely was not an American Models original. - Peter. 开云体育Hi Ted,I suggest that you call AM about purchasing rolling stock painted but not decorated.? I have a scale Baldwin coming from them in that manor. It was an undecorated loco that he is going to shoot black in his next batch of painting that color. Which he said will be soon. I told him I’m in no hurry.? Corbin, I think that’s who mentioned the premium hand railing for the Baldwin S12. Thank you, I had no idea they would be brass. Ordered a set for both locos.? He also wanted to know if I wanted them install and of course I didn’t due to the fact I will be decaling it for Missouri Pacific.? Mike Swederska?
