Re: Chasing the Metro North Employee Holiday Train; 12/03/2024

Jim,
I only watched the first few minutes, but the ex-NYC passenger cars made it time well spent.?

Hi Jim,
? ? ? ? ?I use a Badger air brush I open it up about halfway holding the model some six to eight inches away from air brush it gives me about a one and a half inch spared at 18 to 20 p.s.i I thinned the mix at about 3% paint 1% thinner.

Re: WTB: Steam Depot RSD Truck Part

As I previously wrote, I had arranged to buy the patterns for John's 4-wheel Pullman passenger truck. He died about two days before my scheduled pickup, but his wife and daughter honored the sale and I was still able to pick up the little box from their house. I was told that "his club" would take care of everything else when I offered to help (although I lived at the opposite end of Pennsylvania). That's all I know. Maybe someone on this list can fill in information on what happened next.

In a similar thought, I received a text message, that Uncle Pete was running a 'toys for tots' special here in Houston.? They wanted new unwrapped gifts, but nothing else was mentioned except I would have had only a couple of hours to respond!? I had to pass but I've taken part on several of those in the past.? The best one being put on by a Modeling Agency, so the girls were always "dressed with the least" but that's a conversation for a different list!

David,
Thanks for the suggestion. I was leaning that way but just could not pull the trigger. They are much easier to make. The only real reason for not going that way was because the tender frame was already painted. But that is no big deal.?

Stay tuned.?

MIke, looking good. If I was using it just for switching, I'd do footboards for the pilot and the rear of the tender. Give your brakemen a ride so they don't need to walk all the time.

I did have a few more issues to work out of the mechanism for operation's. This locomotive is pretty much been designated to 1 yard for switching cars, and I discovered that there was too much slop in the tender truck bolsters that allowed the coupler to be misaligned with the rolling stock coupler so I had to make some bushings to close up that gap. The next thing I had was the second axle on the front truck for whatever reason was out of gauge and I had to reset that. It only derailed when I wasn¡¯t looking or I had friends over. Go figure. Do I do steps like a switch locomotive or do I do a boiler tube front like I would do a road engine. Still haven¡¯t quite settled. ?

I have a DH 126 decoder in it and this decoder is amazing for 18 bucks on sale. It also has the plug for a current keeper. at this point, the locomotive doesn¡¯t need it and I¡¯m debating whether I want to put sound in it.

In this picture, the boiler, tender shell and cab are all just sitting there. I¡¯m working out their locations and proportions. I¡¯m really starting to like the way this thing looks. I also want to say that this locomotive is not really following any specific prototype, it is just all the things that I know from building specific prototypes that it needs to be acceptable. I¡¯m really having fun just freelancing it.?

The BBB roadside booth, has been involved in the secondary retailing of S models for a couple or more years.? It's been fun but also tiring.? Then I have to deal with guys who are too specific (aka) fussy.? I'm also facing some body aches that aren't fun to deal with.? So I've decided to get three things on the road, then pack up and take a vacation till I can have fun again!?

So if you see anything shown in the past and you have the? cash, I'm still around, but will not put on new items on this list!

Thanks All
