Re: American Models
Bob, I own several AM PA’s, all are in various New Haven paint schemes. I do have an original set of McGinnis PA’s that I haven’t altered yet. I love the PA’s but, I don’t remember them coming with Kadee 802’s. I haven’t had the McGinnis units out in a while and I’ll look at them when I get home tomorrow. I did mount Kadees on all of my engines Stephen J Kutash 203 906-5116 (Cell) On Sat, Nov 30, 2024 at 12:09?PM Bob Werre via <bob=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: American Models
开云体育Rich,? you are correct in that AM only
sold the New Havens in AA sets--I believe AM's literature states
the fact that the NH didn't have B's.? The NYC 's that I'm selling
was also boxed that way, with the B unit slot covered over with
foam.?
For these marginal runs, ordering
different sized boxes gets expensive.? The same applied to SHS as
they used their AB box with all the cutouts for sound and AF
couplers + the wheels.? So if you ordered a SHS, AA configuration
you probably got two AB set boxes.?
I bought my PA's (A&B) and they
arrived in the same plain boxes many companies send out anything
that fits.? Since the SHS folks knew what I needed I just received
a DC, scale wheels version.

Re: such a deal--no inflation--no gouging, but these aren't made anymore either!
开云体育Charles,? I've tried to contact you
regarding those turnouts--I've got them ready to ship, but your
email as well as the IO is rejecting it.

开云体育That has only happened to the BBB once
recently.? So considering the typical business routines it's not
bad.? Keeping track of who is buying what, along with the special
qualifications, the bookkeeping can be taxing!? Sometimes the wife
and I will pack up 4-5-6 packages, wait for the money but
eventually it's rare to have a looser.? Also just recently, due to
my warehouse staff, things can happen on our end too.? Our new
employees, aka 3 baby cats are great at keyboard erasing games!?

Re: Bob Werre in Railroad Model Craftsman
Indeed, that is a terrific photo from Master Bob!? And it is the second of Bob's great photos that have graced an NASG ad in RMC.? Who could forget his terrific night photo of a Mikado on the turntable which ran in the March 2024 issue?? ?Bob is among the 10 or so guys who have contributed more than one photo to the promotional campaign in RMC and the only one to attempt night photography.? The RMC campaign started in May 2022 and the 33rd photo will appear in the February 2025 RMC.? ?The current plan is to present all 33 photos again starting in March 2025 and the ads will run through the fall of 2027!!? ?Plans are underway to make all 33 photos, probably the best collection of S photos ever assembled, available in one place.

I think originally AM offered them as A-A or A-B-A, although this is the only A-A set I've ever seen.? Just as well, NH didn't have any PB-units. ?

开云体育Bob has a spectacular photo on the inside front cover of the December RMC. It’s a black and white night scene, artfully composed and brilliantly lit, ala O. Winston Link. It’s well worth the price of the magazine! ? Bob is the Master! ? Roger Nulton |

开云体育Anthony,? Although my memory has faded somewhat, I believe AM
only sold their PA's as sets unless Ron broke up a set!? And
whether they are PA1 or PA2--who knows?? I also thought that AM
installed 802 Kadee's on scale versions during assembly.? Now SHS
did break up the sets when they were in league with AM for a short
time.? I bought a AB pair but they had just plain individual
cardboard boxes.? So my suggestion would be to buy either Ed's or my PA sets (I'm
sure both of us will share the wealth between us, should there be
any), chose the unit you want and sell the rest--after all this is
S Scale where our choices can be less than ideal.? This goes back to what I was just talking about--we don't know
how many units of painted/lettered models have been made, then the
AC/DC/wheel/engine number thing adds more variations.? It's one
thing to buy a raw brass model, but a decorated model is a
different story.? My guess would be a few dozen sets at best were
made and those could have been mixed up in time!? Bob Werre PhotoTraxx/BBB

Re: Scale Trains sale
开云体育Thank you Rich; I had not looked at the availability of there regular stock, just
saw it was all listed. I was under the impression that they had
lots of stock remaining from comments on here. If they are truly
sold out then that should encourage them to make more. And that
should be a good thing. Perhaps not so much doom and gloom after
all. Ian McKinley

开云体育Anthony,? I have a matching pair of
PA's for sale for several months.? From what I can tell, they are
NIB, NYC paint, scale wheels too.? That's what you've asked for!?
Contact me:? Bob@...? for a photo or two if you're
really serious.?
As an aside,? I've often been curious
about how many sets that AM (or SHS, AF or ??) made for sale--gosh
I made those ad photos maybe 10-15 years ago, so that might be a
clue why they were still listed on line just a few weeks ago.?
Eventually things do sell out but if sales are that slow, the need
as been satisfied so not much demand for a 2nd run!? A couple
thousand S scalers are needed for more demand.
I do recall that Tom Marsh of Overland
made three runs of his SD40-2s.? If a 'run' was 100 units and he
produced several variations that I thought should be a decent run
and accomplishment to keep producing a popular product.? I'm sure
that Dan at RR in producing specific steam might not have produced
those numbers but hats off for that effort.? For me he just didn't
make enough UP items, then again I didn't have to buy any
Harriaman style models that could be dressed as UP!? Oh well!?

Re: American Models
Since we have brought the subject up, what is the status of the USRA 4-6-2, Empire State Express, Pennsy Torpedo?
Are there any new steam engines being planned?? Is a USRA light 2-8-2 worthwhile, since the AF Flyer one is unacceptable to most in this group.
How does a manufacturer such as American even decide what to make?? ?Maybe much of what is written here does not convert into sales. |

Visit to Mikes
开云体育This time last week I was about to arrive at Mike Swederska’s house. The adventure began as soon as we turned in the driveway. Let’s just say Mikes lives every second of his life HIS way. His driveway is ? of a mile long going past his lakes. I have not gone fishing in almost 50 years but would like to go back and go fishing there with Mike. ? We spent the day with Mike. It was a great day. ? Since I was flying I tried to travel lighter and did into bring my tripod. I probably should have brought it. My photos a bit darker than I would like since I was using my flash. ? I will get the photos and videos to Peter V soon. No link this time if you did not get Stan’s photos you will not get these either. ? ? Thank You, ? See my layout progress at:
