Woo hoo!
OK, the download thing was frustrating, but that frustration wore off pretty quick when the big box arrived today. Unfortunately I had to work most of the day, but I was able to watch a little of the Catalyst show to see if I'm visible (too dark), and watched half of the Boarding House movie, which is FUCKING FANTASTIC!!! I've grown to love most periods in Neil's career, but this box captures the time when I started on my Neil journey, beginning with a cross-country drive listening to the 8 track of Comes a Time, over and over. Soon after that, saw him at the Cow Palace, Rust Never Sleeps. Solo Trans rehearsal gig at the Santa Cruz Civic. Catalyst '84. Live in a Rusted Garage at the Cow Palace. etc. etc. I'm sooooo looking forward to dive deeper and deeper into it. Thanks Neil! Jim --Got Mashed Potatoes--

Little Thing Called Love

Love this song. I didn¡¯t know who Neil really was when this song came out, I began to learn about Neil in 1981, but that is another story. Not sure when I first heard this song, but I¡¯ve always liked it. To me it sounds like a Beatles song that would have Ringo singing lead, it is just fun. I played it for my wife this morning and her comment was, ¡®That¡¯s Neil? Sounds so happy!¡¯ I agree. Note the acoustic parts at the end of the chorus were borrowed for Harvest Moon many years later. 1980 I was 16 and learning to love life, making a bit of money and doing things I wanted to do, like riding the bus and trains around the San Francisco peninsula for fun, just enjoying the sights. Spent the summer in Idaho and loved it. We bought a farm and moved here 8 years later. .https://youtube.com/watch?v=KADDQE-LCFI Russell Courtenay Solemnity and profundity are sublime in inequity.

Farm Aid
Got my photo pass last night for Farm Aid so looked at the SPAC homepage. What a venue! https://spac.org/ For my blood it is a great line-up this year. Looking forward to Lucas playing bluegrass, Mavis, Nathaniel and Charley e for sure and hope for some surprises. Last time I saw Mavis was on a cruise ship leaving Miami and she was singing a long version of "I'll Take You There"!!! Every vacation should start with Mavis singing that tune. The best duet I've ever heard was Aretha and Mavis in C.L. Franklin's church in Detroit. They had nurses every other row all in white for that show. Wonder if Farm Aid will be Neil Young solo or with the Chrome Hearts? Would think Micah is going to be at Farm Aid anyway with his dad but who knows these days? Last year was my favorite of the four Farm Aid's I've been to with a special shout out to Paul & Renee. That Farmaidian bunch from Canada are so much fun to hang with. I'm going to do an interview the night before with one of the Spirit Dancers who always open at Farm Aid. We are going to be talking about the term "all my relations" for my next book on Pilot Mountain. Neil got a copy of it at the Jiffy Lube show near Manassas, Virginia. Also gave Neil an autographed copy of my friends book on Watergate by Rufus Edmisten. Rufus was the one who served Nixon for the Watergate tapes at the White House. He gave me a tour of his private Watergate Museum in his office once.

Chrome Hearts Band lineup
I did a little research online and found this about the Chrome Hearts Band lineup. Young has also announced two shows with a new backing band called the Chrome Hearts, which features Micah Nelson, Anthony LoGerfo, and Corey McCormick. They¡¯re Sept. 23 and 24 at the Capital Theatre in Port Chester, NY. I guess the Horse is put out to the pasture. Hopefully back in the saddle for '25 tour? Keep On Rockin' Soldier Steve ~ Bflo,NY

Presale Code for NYA - Port Chester Shows?
3
Hello Rusties! Question: Does anyone see a presale code (or a unique code) for their logins at NYA for the two Port Chester shows? Tix go on sale at 10 AM to NYA but I am not seeing any presale code yet. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I did e-mail Customer Support at NYA so maybe they will get back to me too, but figured some out there might have a similar issue or perhaps have some insight? Thanks all. Thought #1 and Thought #2
?Such a Woman Beautiful, amazing song about a beautiful amazing woman. I like the album version and the live versions. Neil can get so much power from a single voice and piano with harmonica. Staying Power A fascinating, kind of off kilter song I love to play. I want my family to sing backup on it someday. Russell Courtenay Solemnity and profundity are sublime in inequity.

Razor Love
7
Hello, I hope this note finds everyone safe and well. I pre-ordered The Archives Vol.3 and I've been spinning the "Takes" cd for a few weeks. I have always liked "Razor Love". I first heard it solo acoustic on the Westwood One radio show in 1990 that was featuring songs from 1989. That version has remained my favorite. Once I started tape trading, I found the 1984 Harvesters version and liked the country version. Then, in 1997, at the Trocadero and Catalyst, the versions with the Horse were loose and cool. When it was finally released on "Silver & Gold" it was fine, but didn't hold the magic of other versions. There was even an extended version of the "Silver & Gold" take on Neil's site in 2000. Now, while listening to the "Takes" version of "Razor Love", I really enjoy it... sparce, yet effective. I know that it wasn't recorded during either session, but to me it sonically seems to bridge the gap between the electronic "Trans" songs and the bottom heavy "Landing on Water" songs. The way it was recorded in January 1984, it would seem to fit naturally on the radio at that time. I'm interested to hear what others think about the many versions and history of this 40-year-old song. Thanks for reading, ... now back to Lurkdom. all my best, RustinTampa (Eric)

Bohemian Rust Fest in Prague

The Bohemian Rust Festival 2 - Tribute to Neil Young in Prague was a great success this year! We featured 10 different acts/bands, performed over 60 Neil Young songs during the seven hour concert, and raised 13,800CZK (about 550€ or $608) for schools that serve young students with disabilities. Patrons call. Brief early notes
6
Hopefully this is a good early summary of the Zoom call. Neil was in great spirits. NYA. Vol 3 looking good. 17 min version of 60 to Zero is out there somewhere. NYA Vol 4 will be 1988 - 2002 and include some live Mirrorball with PJ maybe from Israel? Best news (for me). A few east coast shows after Farm Aid with an abridged version of POTR. Small band. Half acoustic, half electric (think Trunk Show tour). Either small outdoor venues or small theaters he has played before. I am hoping for the Tower in Philly! Ticket news coming very soon. Lyrics book will have 600 or so songs. They found a book with hand written notes from 2005-07 the other day. ¡°Stuff just shows up¡± Neil¡¯s Health is very good right now. CSNY 69 is finished and almost ready for release. Neil says the definitive version of DBTR might be the ¡®69 CSNY version. Him and Stephen mixed the record. Neil reads the letters he gets Saturday and answers them himself ¡°Playing gigs is making me feel good¡± ¡°On the Crazy Horse tour I woke up one day and thought I can¡¯t do this. I gotta stop. My body told me this has to stop¡± ¡°The art and playing the music is what matters¡± ¡°however, I feel like I could do it again¡± ¡°We¡¯re not all, all the way back (alluding to either Ralph or Billy).
