Hi, I have been hearing this guy on a local station recently. He reminds me
very much of someone I have heard before but I cant place the voice. If anyone
has any shows of his I would love to do a trade. I have a decent sized trade
list. All help appreciated. Jim

BSB 2001 tree - need disc 6

bobzilla77@mindspring.com

I received this disc in trade. The trader sent me her original CD to copy
but there are digital noise problems. The disc is utterly full so may need
to split this onto 2 discs. I'd like to see if somebody can send me the
Billy Idol & Crazy Horse sets from this set. I have a large & varied trade
list, write off list.

Thanks!

Re: Beefheart project-Gary Lucas nnc

bobzilla77@mindspring.com

Lucas was Beef's manager & latter-day Magic Band guitarist. I am almost
certain Don Van Vliet is too ill to perform in this himself, it is more
likely a Beef tribute featuring Lucas, who played on "Doc At The Radar
Station" and "Ice Cream For Crow" and later led his own prog band Gods &
Monsters.
What would be really neat: if 1969-71 Magic Band alumni Zoot Horn Rollo, Ed
Marimba, Winged Eel Fingerling, Drumbo and Rockette Morton did a show!

I wonder who they could possibly get to sing... I'd be in favor of
instrumentals myself.

The New Rust Is Terrific

David, this Yahoo thing is great! I'm a proud member of Rust Class of '95
and I've been through at least 4 reincarnations of Rust on different servers
and this is by far the best!

Why I'm loving this:

1.) No html! The topica digests were an absolute pain to read. Almost every
digest was crammed with computer floatsam and jetsam of all sorts. Remember
those digests that all just ran together????

2.) Larger digests! Sitdown after dinner to check the mail and find 21
topica digests! Sheesh! Delete them all!

3.) Numbered messages!!!! YES! Just check the table of contents and scroll
down to the numbers you want to read....no searching up and down!

4.)No nested digests in digests!

5.) No 2 message digests because topica wanted to hit the hay or something.

6.) Digests come in order!!!! My God, you can actually read a response
AFTER you've read the original post. Makes flame wars much more exciting!

7.) With all this ease of use....I might actually start reading and posting
again! Have I missed anything in the past year?

Once again R* thanks for the switch and thanks for keeping us informed of it
all. I can't imagine the hours that you must have spent switching 2000
Rusties over. I know you refuse the honor, so I think I'll nominate
Free-Bird as ROTM....she's got your genes!

Got to stop now because another topica digest from last March just came
through. I think I posted in that one that CSNY will NEVER tour again!

thing...thanks for all you do...I hope the headache of transfering
everyone over is done...did we leave anyone behind at Topica???

ran out of gum!

Re: I prefer Topica

David Lybrand

I don't care for yahoogroups because they seem sooo cold
from the Mellencamp site.
I don't think the "Mellencamp site" is close enough to cool down
the warmth of the rust pages on YG.

Topica was warm and felt like us!
Say what? Over the last couple of months Topica treated us like shit.
I gave them plenty of chances and even defended them for a while, but
they never improved.

I think we listened too much to the likes of the crowd and got
messed up...
I don't listen to crowds, I look at how things work. Topica doesn't.

Re: YAHOO Groups - Too Many Ads

David Lybrand

Well, I for one am real sorry this list moved off Topica. I switched
to web only access a long time ago and Topica's web access was
great. Yahoo Groups web access sucks.
Rust is an email discussion list. Though I agree that Yahoo's
web-based browsing is a pain, I don't consider that a factor in
where Rust is located because I don't recommend that anyone
follow Rust that way. In fact, Rust could very well eventually
move onto a server with no support for browsing single messages
on the web.

Note that those who don't follow Rust closely can easily browse
the digest archive...
RE*AC*TOR

PS: If you can get beyond the ads, YG does provide significant
features that Topica didn't, such as threading and a search
that actually works.

Re: Yahoo vs Topica

Lee Goodwin

If this is actually another complaint about the size of
the digests on Topica, I'm now beginning to get dismay over
the slower larger digests like I used to get over the faster
smaller ones on Topica. Most folks who stuck around seem
to have grown to appreciate the smaller digests that let
digesters keep up to date closer to "real time" while still
reducing their mail by a factor of 10.
As a "digester", my opinion is that big digests are better than no digests at all, which is where we were heading in the last weeks on Topica. Good move, David

Re: re-lets roll

If Beamer's wife gets a patent on "Let's Roll", it would be ridiculous! I
guess she would get royalties on GW's speech last night because he told us,
"Let's roll!" (Joni's words now): "Innocence is drowned in anarchy" when
Beamer's wife wants to do things like this. I think it time that everybody
looks what's going down.
