Do any Canadian Rusties know of any deals here for brand names,
that come anywhere near that pricing? I can't find anything
here in southern Ontario, that comes out to less than a dollar
per disk.

Or am I just not looking in the right stores? :)

Johnny Rogan book

I have an 1983 edition of a Johnny Rogan bio on Neil.
It's funny to read on the cover "the definitive
history of his musical career".
Best,

Newbie Network - Further Update

To all who responded to my last post, you're all in. As I said in
that post, We'll accept people until the end of the month then we'll
have to close in order to start getting the shows out. We're up to
about 40 members now so I think this thing will prove to have been a
great way for us newbies to become ex-newbies :-)))

There is some more information I need from some of you who responded:
1)Your location, State if from the US or Country if from elsewhere.
2)Have you a burner or not and
3)A trade list (if you have one), don't worry if you don't, the whole
point of this exercise is that soon you will.

Please check the mail you sent me to see if the above info was
included. The above is needed to sort out a distribution list.

One further thing, because of the number of new members from the US
we're going to need someone to help Miron out in getting shows to
people. I'm looking for a volunteer who has a burner and experience
in copying shows and who'd be willing to burn a fairly large number
of discs, can't say yet how many for sure. You will get the shows we
have sooner than the rest and you'll get the chance to trade with
those shows so your collection should grow quickly but we need
someone who can give us the commitment to get shows out as quickly as
possible. Let me know.

OK I'm off on holiday for the next week, I won't be able to contact
anyone or be contacted until Monday 1st April. (April Fools day-
quite apt) so don't worry if you don't hear from me.

Paul

If this one is circulating: 3/9/02 Atlantic City Show, I'd like a
copy.

Plenty to trade.

Re: Definitions please...

Hi,
I'm a real timer, I take all the email that the list sends as it sends it. Digesters are those puny weaklings that get their mail in a 'digest'; a whole bunch of emails sent together as one so they dont have to waste energy opening every one!! :?>

When Neil played his "genre" shows like this, did he use
Old Black? I figure
he used the Gretsch hollow body for the Everybody's
Rockin' era tour, but
what was he playing on for the Bluenotes' tours, etc.
Neil made occasional use of Old Black during the
Harvesters shows. He played it on Powderfinger and DBTR,
for sure. I also know that the song on Lucky 13, Don't
Take Your Love Away From Me, was performed with Old Black.
And, finally, Old Black was used extensively during the
Bluenotes tours.

Re: Does Neil read the Rust-sent Holiday Card?

I've been asked that by several folks over the years and I had to admit I
didn't know but I had heard from reliable sources he did. Well, this year I
tried an experiment. I put a quite sizeable check (several hundred) made out
to Bridge School in a separate envelope addressed to Neil & Pegi, but along
with the card in the same envelope. It was the overage from the ticket costs
for the Bridge Benefit ($2 or $3 here and there times about 80 or 90
contributors adds up). Today in the mail I got a thank you letter from
Bridge School addressed to "Sheila, Rust & Human Highway Contributors" (my
name is on the check, obviously, but I also put down on the memo line that
it's from Rust and HH) thanking us for our "gift". So that means that at
least somebody looked at the card. Still don't know if it's Neil but we know
at least it's gettin' to the proper place. And if it isn't Neil lookin' at
it then somebody is committing a Federal Offense by reading his
mail.......... ; - }

Re: Go Flashes! Hoop it up! (NNC)

Alright now folks ... Pitt is going to be victorious tonight over Kent
State. Neil actually appeared to me in a dream last night (musta had an
intermission with Mira) and he told me even though he wrote the song Ohio he
is a die hard Pitt Panther fan. So there you have it!

Mike
Comatose but walking still and will be cheering on the blue and gold tonight

where's pegi ....continued...

has she become a tramp????? a friend told me that she posts
on a bruce springsteen list. of course, this could be just
a rumor (and probably is) but i was told (by a very unreliable
source) that she's become the new backup singer for the
estreet band!!!

neil, neil, neil, when you get to feelin better you best
check out this rumor <i couldn't believe it myself but
hey, best to check it out>

Talented Rusties Wanted for:

Shawn McCorkle

The Live Landing On Water project I'm doing. If you don't know. I'm
putting together Neil albums into a live format using live boot versions
from different venues and years.

The Landing On Water album is a tricky one in the fact that FOUR
songs have never been performed live. They will be listed below. It has been
suggested to me more than once today that I should fill the cd with Rustie
versions of the four missing tunes.

So! Any Rustie with musical talent can send me a tape or cd of
yourself or band playing one or all of these four songs. Any style you want
is welcome. And actually it could be interesting because Landing On Water is
very electronic influenced.

If your interested on being on the project, reply back to me. And I
will give you the info you need.

Here are the songs needed. Thanks and good luck with these tunes.

Weight Of The World
People On The Street
Pressure
Drifter

Take care,

Shawn McCorkle - Just Riding My LLama

that LOW so often does!

Lets Roll cynicsm?

a055894

Klaus, the man who sent us the news about the German Rolling Stone,
includes a quote from Neil in that issue about Lets Roll. Something
like "Oh that. There's a certain amount of cynicism in that song
that seems to escape people". I'll bite. Did any of you detect it?
I mean, his people hand delivered it to radio stations like it was
the second coming of OHIO. Is he joking about fighting evil?
Chasing after satan on the wings of a dove? Did that come before or
after Bush's "Axis Of Evil"? How about the strangled way he sings
about our kids growing up fearful in their youth? What do you
think?

Rick 'proto-rustie'

LIFE live versions

John Gallaher

I'm sure now I'm wrong on this, but I was always under the impression that the songs in question on the LIFE album were from the Westwood One broadcast, and then the unfortunate sound effects were added on?

I probably thought this because Westwood One gets thanked on the album notes . . .

Landmine Concerts Europe (NNC)

I was at the Glasgow show from the tour and I'd love
to get my hands on a recording of any show from the
tour. Could anyone that has a recording of any of the
shows from the Euro tour trade me for it? I have a
pretty big list for trade.

In order to keep my concience in check (& for
bandwidth wastage tax) I'll make a decent donation to
this most deserving charity for any recordings I get.

Cheers
