Re: New NYA timeline concert (of the holidays): 2014-07-10 - & Crazy Horse - The Docklands, Cork, Ireland

Just listened and this is a great show and setlist. Electric ATGR is rare. Two diff female singers.?

So this is billed as Crazy Horse with just Ralph, no Billy. How often has that happened?

Paul B
Cuts clean thru.?

Re: New Timeline Concert Gilley's Texas Sept 84

Yeah I do have the Gilley’s show and it’s half finished in terms of editing and clean-up.
I’ll try and finish it over the holidays. And record the new Cork show.
Ron

Re: New Timeline Concert Gilley's Texas Sept 84

Here's my remaster of the 2013 Plenary Timeline concert as FLAC files, done whenever it was first put up on NYA....can't remember now but enjoy anyway.

Re: Neil Young In Berlin blu ray

hi everyone,
?
Trans tour in Europe was my irst tour, loved Neil?s music since mid-70ies, but I must say I went to the concert in Cologne only because I very much enjoyed Nils? performance at ROCKPALAST, the famous German tv show starting in 1977. Nils played there in Oct 1979, fantastic show... check that dvd !!!
?
all the best from Germany?

Agree Ian… it’s one of my favorites videos. And, as I’ve said periodically on Rust through the years, my all-time favorite LAH. ?When Neil struggles with his new wave tie, interfering with his guitar, it seems to propel him into the stratosphere. ?
And if all those first songs weren’t enough, we get “Berlin” - an instant classic. ?

Ben Keith really shreds on the steel guitar on Little Thing Called Love. I always loved it on the Trans album, but it gets a whole new dimension live.

Nils Lofgren does some great interpretive kind of dancing in Transformer Man.?
?
I didn't realize that Nils and Neil trade off on the lead vocals on some of the computerized songs. I had always assumed it was Neil doing all of it.

It's a real treat to see Bruce Palmer. He has this amused, Peter Tork kind of vibe.?

Ian,

My first Neil tour where I got to one of the Wembley Arena gigs up in row ZZ. Trans is special for me too.

The thing I remember was a section of the crowd booing whenever Neil & Nils strapped on the vocoder mics. That was the point when I thought, Neil is the real deal & this is brilliant and been here ever since.

It also started a long appreciation of Nils, who I finally met a few years back on one of his frequent UK tours. He's a fine songwriter in his own right - like "You", "Keith Don't Go", "Frankie Hang On" and his recent Mountains release is like a companion piece to Barn.

Re: Plenary, Melbourne 2013 FLAC

you should have asked for the Timeline release then.? ?

Check the Rust List history and you'll find a site that has every Timeline show

Re: Neil Young In Berlin blu ray

Correction: Ben plays slide guitar on Little Thing Called Love. He plays steel guitar elsewhere.
?
Also, Joe Lala adds a lot on congas.?

Re: Ron Yaxley gets 5 Stars! (NNC)

Typically I re-read several times before hitting send, I'm not sure what happened here.?
You're welcome. I do have some Iain on vinyl. This looks to be an excellent addition to my collection. Good luck with sales.?

Re: Ron Yaxley gets 5 Stars! (NNC)

LOL! The booklet in this third Iain Matthews box set is 48 pages long, though several are just pictures. You have no idea how many times we proofread and amended the text to eradicate small errors and typos along the way. I have stacks of CDs where you find glaring errors in the artwork and swore to myself that that just wouldn’t happen with these, having been given the opportunity to do it by Iain and Cherry Red Records. I was born on the first day of the Virgo star sign so for better or worse the constant search for perfection is an inbuilt trait !
Thanks again for alerting me to the review, Bob….really appreciated. Hope some of you will maybe like it enough to actually buy it !
Ron

Dang...my proofreading skills are not good. Well it's the thought that counts. ;-)

Well stars rather than starts but I get the point. Thank you Bob, I hadn't seen that...We'd already had 4 stars from Record Collector and MOJO in the last week but 5 stars is just amazing. You can't really ask for more in all honesty, really pleased. Funnily enough Iain only rang me a couple of days ago to say he'd sent me some stuff in the mail, as we're working on Elektra Years now. I will let him know.

Ron

The new Iain Matthews compilation got reviewed on Allmusic.com Friday, and Ron was specifically mentioned. It's probably not the first time, but it's the first time I noticed. Well done!!?

Re: Some more Neil downloads

Here's another download link from our anonymous rustie friend:
?
?
The above link includes:
?
The Lost Neil Young - Record Collector August 1995
this is an interesting article from Record Collector Magazine in August 95 which chronicles some of the promo / single releases over the years and some the bizarre choices such as editing down ARC for radioplay , and talks about the archives being approx 20 CDs worth of material.
?
Also, some video clips of Dinosaur Jr,.
?
Anders Osborne + Colorado Symphony - Ohio @ Red Rocks 28-07-2013 a Crazy Horse style take with orchestral backing
?
Finally, I don't if you have ever seen the Ben Harper version @??which is the total opposite being totally stripped down but still packing a mighty musical punch.
