Hiya:
I'm a regular on New Hampshire Public Television during pledge and auction
periods.
Besides being recognized by Leo at a pre CSNY fest in Boston last year, my
best story comes from a Dead show.
Several years ago, a DJ buddy got tickets from his radio station and he and
I went to see the Dead at the Boston Garden (RIP). Shortly after we
stumbled out of the car (with a look reminding one of Cheech and Chong
getting out of a vehicle, smoke spreading everywhere!), somebody shouts out
in a very California-Bill and Ted-surfer guy voice, "Yo Channel 11 dude,
Alriiiighttt!!!!" To this day, my buddy occasionally greets me that way.
To add some NC, the most on air fun I've had was when the Austin City Limits
and Center Stage specials aired during pledge time. I actually was paid to
talk about Neil on Public TV.
OK, speaking of that (man, I seldom post, let alone ramble on and on and
repeat myself), if you've read this far, I need a ruling...I've got a pretty
nice VHS of the pledge version of the Austin City Limits program. It's
clearly not available commercially, is it OK for this to get circulated?
Normally I'd say "yes" but this is a version specifically created for PBS
fundraising. Maybe if it goes out, everybody can "Scouts Honor" to support
his or her public broadcasting outlet or its overseas equivalent. I guess
it's not that different than getting Bridge shows out.
If the consensus is "OK," I'll look for somebody to transfer it and somebody
else to set up a tree. Drop me a line and let me know what you think and
I'll report back in a day or two.
