Oh, what a feeling, what a ...........

James A. Reible

Rush!!!!!......
(Kudos to 'Crowbar')

High all!

The local rock station, {Name deleted to protect the guilty}, had a gig going the last couple weeks where the correct number caller 'qualified' for the drawing for a room, a limo and 2 tickets to see Rush in Las Vegas Saturday 9-21-02.

My buddy Jerry qualified and so did I.
So Friday evening we drove the 40 odd miles to the car dealership where the remote was and participated in the circus.

114 people qualified, 56 showed up.
Prizes were a T-shirt or one of two sets of Rush tickets.
I got a shirt, Jerry got a set of Rush tickets.......
While I was saying 'you better start a fight with your old lady' he was saying 'I better start a fight with my old lady'. !
Great minds, etc.. :-)

Cool, I'm going to see Rush!
For free!!!

Saturday around noon I wake up, take my shower, etc., and just as I'm getting ready to walk out the door a guy shows up who I haven't seen in months.
I tell him where I'm off too and he says 'cool, you'll need this' and hands me a Zip-Lock baggie with about 1/4oz of dried mushrooms!
Cool.... ;-)

Limo ride to Vegas.
Four bottles of Totts Champagne!
Quart of Seagrams 7 and a quart of Absolut Vodka (Not bad, I'd never had it before.) and a case of Corona.

Asst. munchies which I supplemented with the 'schrooms.
Peer pressure got the radio 'personalities' to partake too and it was good!
I did have a passing thought, passed at Warp 3!, that maybe I was getting a little 'old' to eat poison mushrooms but that thought passed too fast to worry about. :-)

The show started at 8 and they played to 9:30.
Half hour break and they start at 10 and played to 11:30.
Talk about GREAT!!!!
3, count 'em three, people doing ALL of that wonderful sound!

And the drummer, Neil Peart, is one of the best drummers ever to play on this planet!!!!
And I'm a real drummer 'snob' and insufferably proud of it! (Obnoxious I guess some people would say, can't guess why......)

I've gotta say that there's really 4 people performing 'cause you have to include the guy playing the lights.
One of the nicest total experiences I've had in a while.
(Last one was Pink Floyd in '88!)
Total exhaustion when it was all over, completely played out, physically and emotionally!
I think I got my money's worth...... ;-)

The limo ride back was a limo ride, I'm not looking forward to any more, sitting sideways in a moving vehicle is just downright unnatural!
But the rooms at the casino were all next to each other, a mistake I'm sure the casino will not make again!!!!
At least they were smart enough not to mess with us when they probably should have but it was already like 5 AM and really no point in starting something that close to checkout time.......
(Safety in numbers, always works! :-))

Breakfast Brunch (More Champagne but not Totts.) which did lack a modicum of class since(sinse) we were all pretty munched, and were starting to burn off the 'schrooms, and they had Belgian Waffles and REAL Maple syrup and Eggs Benedict and stuff like that.
We PIGGED!!!!!
I'm sure next time the casino will toss in a breakfast buffet instead of 'Brunch'.
hehehe

Got home a little while ago, finished the fight with the wife, she says she understands - let us see if I wake up in the morning... , and started writing this.

BTW, I am not too "Old" to partake of the fungi but I had forgotten why they're called 'poison' mushrooms......
C'mon Kaopectate! :-)
