Re: How we listen to music/ Neil helped make it better

Charlie Macon

Cool question toni. I'm always stuck on the music
part, especially the guitar, which for me seems to be
the most emotional of the instruments in rock music in
particular. Even good ol' rhythm guitar playing just
spellbinds me. The musician who truly broke me into
listening to the lyrics was Neil Young at that 99 solo
tour concert. I really started hearing words in
music, and found his to be particularly fascinating.
Even so, Neil speaks amazingly with the instruments he
plays as well. If I ever get a chance to say anything
personally to Neil Young it'll be something like
"Thanks for letting me see the beauty of music so
clearly." It was a true awakening for me, and I was
36 years old in May 99!

Take care, Charlie

P.S. I love that e-mail address "Earthmom".....a very
cool word!
