I read with interest the recents posts by Sharry Wilson and Dave
Murphy about this item from Thrasher's Wheat...
"The upcoming vinyl remasters of the first 4 albums are thought, in
our circle, to be the finest versions of these records ever heard. You
might want check them out, once released. These records will debut the
NYA ORS series. (Neil Young Archives Original Release Series)

and Rial99 replied: "The 200 gram classic vinyl records is how the
Archives need to be released. There is hope."
Well, I love LPs and I have a quality turntable set-up. I'm as
vulnerable as anyone to well-pressed vinyl records, BUT have you seen
the obscene prices that Neil has placed on the "Canterbury House-Sugar
Mountain" and "Deja Vu Live" records ?!?!?!. Manufactured in Japan
they are the ONLY Vinyl available for these receordings. Warners in
the US is distributing them, making any alternative pressing unlikely
to get on the market. You see these sets at upwards of $80 for each
2-LP set. C'mon !!! that is criminal. I was "fortunate" to be able
to score a copy of Sugar Mountain on Record Store Day that got the
price down to $45. Even at this huge discount it was a tough call.
Yes, Sugar Mountain sounds amazing on vinyl, but these are (quite
frankly) crazy LP prices, as I'd guess these new releases of Neil's
first four albums may list at around $40-45 per LP. This along with
the Archives prices tells me Neil doesn't know we're in a recession.
