Vine Couplet: Neil & Loudon Wainwright III shows to become a standard...

...offering. Okay, folks, here's the deal. Thanks to several kind Rusties I've recently learned how to burn my 'ol analog tapes on to CDR PROPERLY (important word, there). Now I do have a few interesting Neil things I'll be offering up to the list soon--Like, later this week--but for the most part, if you ask nicely enough, someone is bound to transfer a DAT of most any obscure Neil show to CDR, thus cutting out the need for analog transfers. However, the same cannot be said for the funniest (and most autobiographical) folksinger in the business: Loudon Wainwright III. There ain't that much of his stuff out there to share, it seems. Over the years I've managed to get hold of several nice shows/tapes, though, and I'd like to get them out into the world (at least more than they already are).

I know what you're thinking..."Jeez, if you want to trade LWIII tapes, why don't you go to the LWIII List and do it there?" Thing is: I am a member of the Loudon Wainwright III mailing list and his manager, or someone else close to him, keeps the man appraised of what's being said on the list. And, unfortunately, it's been stated more than once that in no uncertain terms does Loudon condone the recording and/or trading of his music. He hates it, in fact. So, basically, it doesn't happen on the list. Or, if it does, you've got to be stealthy. Sad to say, I'm getting a little tired of it and I know RUST is a forum where other artists have been traded openly so....Well, you can connect the dots.

The plan is to offer up a Loudo show once every two weeks along with a Neil show (gotta keep the Neil content going) until I run out of material--Which brings us to the last part of this here diatribe: A PLEA! A CALL TO ARMS! Once you hear one Loudo show (or, even better, attend one of his shows) you're hooked. So call this a grovel. If anyone out there has any LWIII shows please, pretty please with a, uh...I dunno...a Perfect soundboard recording of Neil during his Canadian coffee-house tours...Please drop me a line. I'll make it worth your while. Got lots of Neil and a bevy of others to trade but, more importantly, I'll get that LWIII show out there to anyone and everyone who wants'em.

Cheers,

Roger
