If you look in the drop down menu is there another COM port other than COM3 assigned to the Zoom?? If so try select that port and try it.?

I am making some progress it seems with getting the AA-650 Zoom to connect with my Microsoft Surface Pro, but I¡¯m not there yet.

I fooled around on the Surface and got it to ¡°Pair¡± with the 650 Zoom, and even managed to get the Surface to assign the 650 Zoom a COM Port.

In the AntScope2 software settings, the COM 3 port shows up and I can click on the ¡°Connect Analyzer¡± button but the software never seems to connect to the 650 Zoom. The top line of the software continues to show, ¡°Analyzer Not Connected¡±.

I¡¯m not certain what all I did to get the 650 Zoom to pair with the Surface laptop but below are some screen shots of various setup screens I navigated through in the process.

Just wondering if anyone has had success getting the 650 Zoom to talk via Bluetooth to a Window¡¯s 10 machine, and even better has anyone documented the steps needed to be successful?

Thanks,
Keith

-.- -. ..... --.?

KN5G

At this screen I selected ¡°Add a Device¡± and cycled the power on the 650 Zoom before it would appear in the list of devices.

The 650 Zoom showed up in the Bluetooth devices list after manually adding it.

Then in the Bluetooth Device section I went into additional options to assign a COM port to the 650 Zoom.

I will keep poking at it as I have time. Maybe it will give up and decide to connect !

Keith,

Using Bluetooth in Windows is not as simple as iOS.? On Windows 10 you have to manually go into the Bluetooth settings, find the RigExpert device and then "pair" with it.?? One you are paired Windows? will create a COM port and then you can manually connect to it in AntScope2 using "Connect to Analyser" in the Settings.?

Re: AA-650 Zoom with AntScope2

If the OSL calibration procedure is performed in the AA-650 Zoom, then when the analyzer is connected to AntScope2, the program will ignore the calibration. The program takes raw data from the analyzer.

Stu,

The Cable tab that you see under Settings have nothing to do with calculating Cable Loss.? They are used so that AntScope2 can add or subtract a transmission cable length from the calculations.?? This is typically used when you are measuring at the shack end of a transmission line and want to know what the readings would be at the other end.?

Re: 650-Zoom Bluetooth to Microsoft Surface Pro #aa-650-zoom

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Roger,

I believe the Surface Pro does support Bluetooth BLE, from what I can find on the Internet and on Microsoft¡¯s product specifications pages. That doesn¡¯t mean the drivers in the Surface Pro have all the bells and whistles needed to talk to the AA-650 Zoom. I am not an expert on Bluetooth and all it¡¯s iterations. I was hoping the 650 Zoom would just connect up to the Surface Pro via Bluetooth as easily as it did to the iPad.

Below are a few screen shots of my settings in the 650 and in the Surface Pro, if they might be of any help.

In AntScope2 there doesn¡¯t seem to be any choices to select in the ¡°Settings Window¡±. Clicking on the drop down under Serial Port there are no choices. Clicking on ¡°Connect Analyzer¡± does nothing. The main window continues to show ¡°Analyzer not Connected¡± on the top line of the AntScope screen.

From what I have read on the Internet, if the Bluetooth section in Device Managers shows a Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator then the device is capable of using Bluetooth LE.
Currently this is over my head since as I¡¯ve mentioned I am not up to speed on all the various iterations of Bluetooth.

Any insight would be appreciated but I can manage with the USB cable between the Surface Pro and the 650 Zoom. It would just be a lot more convenient if they would talk over Bluetooth!

Thanks!

Keith
