Re: AA-30.Zero and Arduino #antscope2 #software

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi!

There is no version of AntScope2 for Arduino. Since Arduino doesn't contain any operating system.

If you mean the possibility of joint operation of AA-30 zero + Arduino + color TFT display with touch control, then at the moment there are no ready-made solutions.

Best regards, Alex

Hi Mark.

Thank you for choosing the AA-230 Zoom analyzer!

Press simultaneously the F + arrow up (or arrow down) buttons.
The scale of the graph will be changed. Works for all graph (except Smith Chart).

Dear Erik,
?
To our great regret, a batch of about 10 TI-5000 interfaces left the factory with the rear screws incorrectly installed.
If you send me your address to support@... we'll send the correct screws for you.

Re: AA230 Bluetooth not working with AntScope2 #AA-230-ZOOM

Dear Frank,
?
The Stick 230 analyzer also uses a BLE module.
Everything I wrote for Graham is true in your case.
At the beginning of March we plan to release AntScope2 with full support for BLE analyzers.
?
Sincerely, Alex

Re: AA230 Bluetooth not working with AntScope2 #AA-230-ZOOM

Dear Graham,
?
Thank you for your question and for choosing the AA-230 Zoom analyzer.
?
Analyzers that have a bluetooth module with the BLE? (Bluetooth Low Energy) protocol do not work through a bluetooth connection together with AntScope2 for PC. This is indicated, for example, on the product page:
This is due to the fact that Windows operating systems (except Windows 10) don't have support for the BLE protocol at the kernel level.
Only about a year ago, Windows 10 added full support for the BLE protocol.
Therefore, our developers are currently implementing support for analyzers with a BLE module in the source code of AntScope2.
Completion of work is scheduled for early spring 2021.
?
Sincerely, Alex

I realize that it is becoming a new norm in the U.S. nowadays - to use personal attacks against the dissent.
But my understanding was that this is rather a technical talk group to discuss technical topics, but not a gossip discussion group, tapping on some (mostly non-existing)? personal affairs.
I sincerely hope that the administrator of this group will take appropriate measures to terminate personal attacks, even if they are coming from "retired professors" who most likely confuse public talk group with their university classrooms.

AA230 Bluetooth not working with AntScope2 #AA-230-ZOOM

I purchased a brand new AA-230 Zoom and the Bluetooth pairs with my PC but AntScope does not connect.
Bluetooth works fine when I connect to the AntScope app on my iPhone.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this.
Thanks

TI-5000 / IC-003 screws #issue

I have a TI-5000 with the IC-003 cable.

The screws on the IC-003 cable are too short to screw into the TI-5000.

What are the specifications of these screws? I'd like to replace them with screws that are a bit longer.

Thank you, 73,

Information on the AA-55 Zoom Bluetooth #AA-55-ZOOM #software #firmware

Hello everyone!
?
A few comments regarding the AA-55 Zoom with bluetooth module.
?
The previously proposed options for improving the stability of data transmission through Bluetooth were a temporary solution.
It is no secret that the difference in the speed of data transfer via USB and via bluetooth was significant (not in favor of bluetooth).
?
Our developers have completely redesigned the data transfer protocol. Now the data transfer rates on both channels are equal.
The maximum range of stable operation through bluetooth has also been slightly increased.
For example:
measurement in the full range of 300 points, distance 5 meters (for bluetooth):
  • via USB: 8.5 seconds
  • via bluetooth (old firmware): 28 seconds
  • via bluetooth (new firmware): 8.7 seconds
?
To date, the work has been completed by 80 percent. Unfortunately, the full cycle of development, testing and implementation requires a sufficient amount of time.
?
As soon as the work is at the final stage, we will provide all interested parties with access to beta testing. I think the deadline is 2 weeks.
?
Best regards, Alex Antonov

Re: AA650 ZOOM no Com Port nor Bluetooth connect--An Update

An update, I received a Asus BT500 dongle today and installed the Asus
driver downloaded from their site.? This is a Bluetooth 5.0 unit.
I plugged in the unit and paired it to the 650 ZOOM.
In Device Manager it shows up in the Bluetooth tree and looking at the
properties it indicates as working correctly with no errors.
The driver install package did install Bluetooth LE drivers because these also
show up in the Bluetooth tree.
Running the AntScope2 it shows that no analyzer is connected although all other
indicators have the Bluetooth connection working properly.
This is on a Win 8.1 64 bit laptop that does not have Bluetooth built in.
The question is why the AntScope2 program does not detect the ZOOM unit?
The spec indicates 4.2 LE so the BT500 does cover this entirely via the drivers.
I have the latest 1.5 firmware loaded in the ZOOM unit.

Ken,

Yep, you've nailed the quandary of Yuri's "wait and see" approach to Rig Expert's advertising BT and offering new BT products but not actually making BT work as the adverts promise. If you look up Yuri on QRZ.com, he is from the Ukraine according to his bio. So it is sort of personal to him. But it also does not look like $61USD would bother him much with his multi tower antenna farm and large sail boat. Since he looked me up and saw I was retired after a long career, I guess it fair game to reciprocate. But Yuri's been silent after his drive-by admonitions here.

I'm sorry that RE's staff is significantly down due to Covid-19 issues. But they could issue a public acknowledge that they are short-handed right now and that there IS a problem with their BT hardware or software (or both). That is just the right thing to do. Hams tend to have some compassion on these things but no one likes to be deceived. I'd bet that Yuri would be upset if his sailboat dealer promised certain features on his boat that just were not true...

Hi Yuri

I think the issue at hand is that we did pay extra for Bluetooth feature.? Mine was $299 -vs- a $238 price listed after I discovered the problem. ? ?There is a limit for free returns.? If this is a software or upgradeable firmware issue, then I¡¯m happy to wait for it and I¡¯ll peel the protective covering off of the screen and use it. ? If it is a hardware issue, then I want to know this in time to return it, get my $ back, and buy the cheaper model or wait for the newer revised model with working BT chip.?

Pretty simple.? Someone at RigExpert should have already been able to tell us if we have hardware lemons or if this is a problem that we can fix with through the USB port. There-in lies Frank's frustration and mine. Being patient much longer comes with a cost. ?$61 is a substantial amount of money for some of us.?

Cheers!

Frank,
with all due respect, I think your words are a bit too strong.
I personally think that we have to give RigExpert guys in Ukraine some credit.
Some of the retired folks have no idea how it is to be working now under "new normal" conditions dealing with lockdowns, logistics disaster and having half of the staff on a sick leave due to COVID-19...
Alex of RigExpert Support is entertaining all of us here on a daily basis despite being ill.
As far as I know they were the first to implement Bluetooth in the antenna analyzers, and yes, while they are facing some difficulties now, they are making a great effort to resolve them despite all the challenges.
Please be patient. Just give them some time. They work really hard.
I'm not sure if you noticed that instruments with Bluetooth are being sold now at the same price as the ones without it. So basically the Bluetooth option is now free.
If you can help, please do so, like Doug VED7DXK is doing.
If you need to blame someone, I would start with government institutions, USPS for instance, which completely stopped working in the last month or so... You mentioned many HAMs who bought RigExpert analyzers for Xmas. How many of them got delivery in time?
Is everything else working fast? Or, at least, at a normal rate? Look around you.
Again, I believe we all need some extra patience in this situation.
Thank you.

Hi Bruce,

Sadly, this is nuts. No commercial Bluetooth installer should need manual reconfiguration of BT com ports. Period.

Doug VE7DXK and I have continued to test the AA-55 Zoom BT with Antscope 2 and the latest FW for that device. Doug has provided Alex of Rig Expert here clear and specific Bluetooth data documenting packet loss in the BT transfer vs USB connection. I¡¯ve confirmed Doug¡¯s finding by relocation of the packet loss on my end.

I've complained to DX Engineering where I purchased my AA-55 Zoom BT about this documented set of issues. Scott Jones at DXE has said they have complained to Rig Expert about the matter and that Rig Expert replied that they will fix the problem. That has not yet happened without creating additional problems (e.g., abysmally slow data transfer). Doug and I have concluded that Rig Expert simply does not have the technical expertise to fix the Bluetooth problem all the while they release new BT featured products (239 Stick Pro).

Not having in-house niche expertise is not terribly unusual. It¡¯s usual and customers for the manufacturer to contract with an external vendor to do the design work for them. Doug and I worry, however, that the fundamental issue may be HARDWARE rather than the much easier rectifiable FIRMWARE. If it¡¯s hardware, the unit will need to be either swapped-out or sent back for repairs.

How many hams bought Rig Expert AAs for Christmas? The BT units are turning out to be lumps of coal...as you are unfortunately finding out. I really wish Rig Expert would recognize and fix the problem. And get Antscope 2 working with all RE units using BT on all of the OS platforms they advertise.
