¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

The Stick Pro screen is very easy to see in direct sunlight.

Hi

Is the?RigExpert Stick XPro's screen? readable in direct sunlight? Or is the Stickpro 230 with paper display the only one that can be read? in direct sunlight?

I really struggle with reading the displays on Rigexpert displays without a cover.

Stick 230 #stick230

Hello,

The Stick 230 came with a "1" page "Quick Guide" in the Box

I have lost it..!!
Is there somewhere to Download it.?,
I can find a Full Manual, but I would like the "1 Page Guide"

Many Thanks...

Re: [Aerial-Talk] Homework for Ed

RigExpert products measure the complex reflection coefficient?Gamma and from that Return Loss, VSWR and Complex Impedance?(R+/-jX)?can be calculated and plotted on the screen.??

Gamma?(¦£) is a complex number expressed in the form a +/-jb? or?as Magnitude @ an angle.??The Magnitude is = sqrt(a^2+b^2) and the angle is the arctan (b/a). The angle is often referred to as the S11 phase angle and this is the angle plotted on the RigExpert.? The relationship between Gamma and the complex impedance is given by this equation:? Gamma ¦£ = (Z - Zo) / (Z + Zo) with Z being a complex number and Zo typically set at 50 or 75.? ??

The S11 phase angle is NOT the same as the impedance phase angle of what we are measuring.? An antenna, for example will have a complex impedance Z = R+/- jX where R is resistance and X is reactance.? ?The impedance phase angle? is the artctan (X/R) which is not the same as the arctan (b/a) of Gamma.? The RigExpert only calculates the S11 phase angle and if you want impedance phase angle you have to export the data and derive it externally in a spreadsheet or other program.??

Hopefully an? example will illustrate the concepts.? Let us say our antenna has a complex impedance R+jX is 50+j50.. For the case of 50+j50 the impedance phase angle is arctan (1) or 45 degrees.? If we calculate Gamma ¦£ = (Z - Zo) / (Z + Zo) = (50+j50-50)/(50+j50+50)? =?j50/(100+j50) the result? after some complex division is 0.2 +.4j.? The magnitude is sqrt (0.2^2 +0.4^2) = .45 at a phase angle of arctan (.4/.2) = 63.4 degrees.? ?If we do the same calculations with an impedance of 50 +j200 we get also get different numbers for S11 phase angle and impedance phase angle as shown below.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Impedance phase? ? ? ? ? ? ?reflection coefficient phase
50+j50? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 45? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?63.4
50+j200? ? ? ? ? ? ? 76? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?26.6

Stick 230 #stick230

Hi Alex,

A further enhancement request for New Band

40MHz / 8M Band, 40.000MHz ~ 45.000MHz (per ADIF Spec 3.1.1)

I have just received a "Innovation & Research License" to operate on 40MHz/8M
Would be nice to have 40MHz/8M included in a Future Update.

Many Thanks....

Hi Alex,

Hope you are well..??

Any news on an update to add the 70MHz / 4M Band, 70.000MHz ~ 70.500MHz

Thanks....

[Aerial-Talk] Homework for Ed

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

This fellow is looking for an explanation of phase, as reported by the RigExpert and AntScope.

Could anyone here help him out??

AG6CX

?

Since I do not understand the difference between the Phase indicated on my RigExpert Analyzers and the actual phase of the antenna being measured, perhaps you can find the time to help.

?

You already have an Aerial-51 Model 807-HD antenna.

  • Please measure it with your RigExpert AA-230 antenna analyzer, and record your results.
  • Please re-measure it with a proper VNA (or however it should be measured) and record the results.
  • Please show us the difference.

?

Extra Credit:? Please explain it to Rick in simple terms with the hope that he might understand.

Extra Credit-2:? Is there a way to identify the true j0 of an antenna using a RigExpert analyzer?? If so, please show us.

?

Thank you.????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Oh, yes, I was referring to saving measured scans, Paul.

I rarely use any of the features from the analyzer, other than scan.

Once I save a scan, I can see all the other stuff on a larger computer screen.

?

SAVE only saves whatever measurement you have open.

Yes agree, I was referring to different functions you can? select on the analyzer and then can hit the 6/save button. But as you point out, when I select 4/swr and saved it, all the other data is available under the View option in AntScope.
thanks for the clarification

No, it is not the case.? It saves ALL parameters.

Click in [View] in the menu in the top.

From the drop-down sub menu you can chose any of the other parameters.

Gents
Installed AntScope1 and was able to import the saved files from Analyzer. This time used my AA-55 Zoom. The ability to look at data points all along the freq range on the PC is pretty neat. So it appears the only option I was able to save on the Analyzer was the SWR chart. Is that the case?

Tnx to all for the help and reponses

Edited

Here is the manual for Antscope 1, the original version. There is not a new manual for Antscope 2, but this manual applies to about 95% of what you need to know. Any specific questions, we all would be glad to help with.

thanks very much for the How to... your screen shot of the File Edit etc tool bar I don see in my AntScope program??

Is there a better / older ver I should be using?

Re: Reading AA-54 Results in win 10 PC

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Paul,

?

The analyzer does not automatically store any scans.

After you make a scan, if you wish to store it, you have to manually store it by pressing [6], selecting a memory slot to store it in, naming the memory slot, and then pressing [OK].

?

If you did not do that, nothing is stored there.

?

If you did that, but did not transfer the files to a computer, then you must import them from the analyzer into AntScope one at a time, and then save them to the computer.

?

?

When you save the files, give each a name which will help you remember what it was when you view it 5 years from now!

I have an AA-54? Analyzer that I would like to see the results of a recent antenna scan on my win 10 PC. Never tried this before. Have the unit hooked to PC via USB cable and see PC mode on the screen of the Analyzer. I installed AntScope2 v1.2.6 on PC, but once it's open I am at a standstill. Don't see what to do next.
I may be wrong but thought recent scans are stored on the Analyzer and could then be reviewed in more detail on a PC.
Are there better programs then this one?
Can anyone share a few tips on how the get to first base on this one?

Another vote for HOA Ham.

Watched his video and ordered a case for my Stick Pro. Fits like a glove. Keeps everything protected and very compact.
