macOS - AA-600 - Antscoope2 #aa-600 #antscope2

If Antscoope2 does not show AA-600 in the USB port list.
Make shore that the AA-600 is turned on and connected via USB.
Then reboot your MAC.
Now the USB connection should bee restored and will show up in the connection list in Antscoope 2.

This can happen from time to time when upgrading MAC with new macOS, but not always.
Even if the system information on MAC shows that AA-600 is connected via USB.

G'day all
I used my Stick Pro with my laptop, a Panasonic toughbook CF-19, Win7, very successfully at our club's antenna building day.

When I started it all up again a few weeks later ,the Stick Pro did not get recognized and AntScope2 did not see the stick.
When I tried the Stick Pro on the computer, Win7, in my office, the stick was unable to get connected to this computer.

I tried to reinstall AntScope2 which did not solve the problem only to get a message that the installment stopped because an AntScope version was already installed.
I had uninstalled AntScope2 before reinstalling the software.

Any ideas about what went wrong?

Cheers John

Re: AA-35 Zoom Capacitance Accuracy #AA-35-ZOOM

David,

Another thing to keep in mind is the inductance of the leads on your capacitor.? It is about 5 nanohenries (nH) per cm or 13 nH per inch.

This has a considerable effect depending on what frequency you measure the component.? ?

This was posted by a guy on Facebook using his NanoVNA.? ?

I did a similar plot of a 10 pF cap using my AA-55 Zoom and AntScope2 .? Results were exported from AntScope2 as a CSV file and plotted in a spreadsheet.? ?Note how you you need to be in a reasonable reactance range to get a decent estimate of capacitance.

You need a proper test jig in order to measure components accurately.? I wrote a post on this topic some time ago.??

Yes the AA55 works great on my HEX and 80 meter dipole

Alex yes I'm using only one coax. I just re-checked and now I'm getting 1:79 on 40 and 1.35 on 30. Yesterday we had high winds maybe a branch .
Either way it's working now. Thanks for your replay Alex.

Hello,

AA-35 Zoom does not have a built-in OSL calibration function.

Re: Setting system impedance

I have an AA-54 and assumed that the "system impedance" was the impedance output of my radio, which, is 50 ohms.

My my measurements are in agreement with the settings of my tuner so I think that works for me at least.

Dear Dave,

It is necessary to measure the capacitance of the capacitors (or the inductance of the coils) at the frequency where the value of the active resistance is about 50 ohms.

That is, the algorithm is as follows:
- connect the capacitor to the analyzer
- start the R X measurement in the entire range (button 5)
- move the cursor to the value of R= 50 ohms in the chart.
- press button 8 and get the capacity value.

Regards, Alex

Setting system impedance

I'm an old guy new to analyzers and recently purchased an AA-55 Zoom which I'm still getting used to using. ?Can someone explain to this old geezer what the analyzer is looking for when setting system impedance? ?The radio of course wants to see a 50 ohm match but is fed with multiple antennas including a non-resonant vertical fed with 50 ohm coax through a 4:1 unun, and a dipole fed with 600 ohm ladder line fed through a 4:1 balun. ?What overall system settings does there analyzer want to see in these cases?

I agree?? a fanned dipole of three should read as 3 separate antennas.

It should see both dipoles just the way it is.

I suspect you have a bad connecting cable or something is wrong with your AA-55 Zoom.? Have you tried connecting a dummy load to see if it is close to 1:1 ??? If that works try a 100 ohm and a 25 ohm resistor.? They should read 2:1

Hi Cody,

Are two dipoles connected to one coaxial cable at the same time?

Scan SWR (button 4) in the entire range and show a photo of the resulting graph.
